drama club We had a lot going on in August. The summer concert was well attended, and the audience gave standing ovations. Those who went to the reception put away lots of champagne and great hors d'oeuvres. Our BBQ was also a great success. Rehearsals for the fall production "Miracle on South Division St." have begun. The play is a comedy with a surprise ending. Performances will be Oct. 24, 25, 26 at 7 pm and a matinée at 2 pm on Sunday the Oct. 27. There will also be a dinner show on the Saturday night performance. The price is just $25, with a set menu. Stay tuned for information on ticket sales in next month's Lifestyles. mystery theater & more Our group has just enjoyed a pleasant three month hiatus from the demands of rehearsing for our last play and for planning for our next major event, our "That's Entertainment" production at the end of February 2014. With this respite during this glorious summer we have enjoyed, we have been also been tasked with brainstorming an appropriate theme for this signature show. With the bar having been considerably raised in content and talent level over the past three or four years this is no easy task. However, rest assured that our "think tank" of in-house talents have listed many choices from which to select and will be looking for that one gem that stands out. That will be the process that we start when we once again resume our normal, first-Tuesday-of-the-month business meetings on Sept. 3. If you are a current Mystery Theater member please make plans to attend. If you've been thinking about checking us out as a way to spend what we in our community have come to know as a very active retirement, please do join us at our next monthly business meeting that will be held on Tues., Sept. 3, at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. We'd love to meet you and have you meet all of us! Info., Ginger Burris, 845-9685. paisano club For the month of August, the Paisano's enjoyed "where the surf meets the turf " on a bus trip sponsored by the Recreation Department to Del Mar Racetrack. Our next meeting on Fri., Sept. 6, will be back at North Clubhouse for a fun night of Bocce. Dutch and Jim Curry, members of the Bocce Club, will organize this event. We are extending the cut off for this September meeting. Deadline is Sept. 3, so it may not be too late to join the fun. The cost will be $12 pp and that includes pizza, salad, dessert and coffee, not to mention prizes for those Bocce experts. Don't forget, BYOB. Are you interested in attending? Checks should be made out to Paisano's and delivered to Dee Nicoletti at 1479 Boca West by Sept. 3. If you are interested in playing Bocce, call Judy Garthwaite at 797-3130. Also for September's meeting we will be conducting a special non-perishable food drive for HELP. Bring any nonperishable food items with you to that meeting and we thank you in advance. We have a great event planned for our meeting on Oct. 4. Back by popular demand will be our horse racing activity/ entertainment. No one does it better than the Paisano Club so by all means, do not miss this one. Stay tuned for more details on the horse racing. We will have a country/western theme and menu will be published in next month's issue. If you have any questions regarding food, call Provi Donadio at 845-1601. If it is membership or delivery of checks, Dee Nicoletti is the one to call at 846-3096. Ciao! Change the hair you HAVE… into the hair you WANT!
