social singles Our next dinner meeting is Fri., Sept. 13, at 6 pm in the South Clubhouse. Doors open at 5:30 pm. "Take me out to the ballgame, buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks, I don't care if I never come back…" Yes, the "All American Pass Time" has come to t he singles! We are going to be showing the critically acclaimed movie, "42," starring Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford. This is the life story of Jackie Robinson. Peanuts and crackerjacks will, of course, be on the table for the movie! Big Daddy's BBQ will be serving his mouthwatering pork ribs, chicken, potato salad, Cole slaw, and peach cobbler for dessert. All this for $13 pp! Guests are $15 pp. If you live in Sun Lakes, you may come as a guest one time only, and then you must join the club for $10. Guests living outside of Sun Lakes are welcome at $15 pp. We can only accommodate 99 people in the South Clubhouse for our dinner meetings, so your attendance will be on a first come first serve basis. Make checks payable to Social Singles and drop your checks to Betty McMillion, 5549 Pinehurst Dr., 769-6636. Those who want to sit together should put their checks in one envelope. If you have signed up for the dinner meeting and are unable to attend, PLEASE call Betty McMillion so she may give your reservation to someone on the wait list. You will receive your money back. For additional events, see the Social Singles flyer in the clubhouse lobby. Aug. 31: Sat. Luncheon 11:30 am. Dining room, RSVP Doris Harrison, 769-3990 by 8/28. Aug. 31: Music Under the stars & outdoor grill 6 pm. Enjoy grilled brats, burgers and chicken $7 each. Music will be "Ricky Bee and the Stingers." For a fun filled evening, join your friends on the beautiful new veranda and patio. Sept. 4: Rotary spaghetti dinner $7, leave at 5 pm. Russo's is catering this event which is the kickoff to Stagecoach Days events. This is a tradition in Banning and serves as a major fund raiser for Rotary. Their mission is to do good in our community. sept. 6: "Broadway at franco gardens." $27. Leave at 5:45 pm. Appetizers , wine and other beverages included. Joanne Lapointe (performed for our 2012 Christmas dinner) "Beverly Sills meets Bette Midler." This is a beautiful outdoor venue at Noble Creek. sept. 7: WHITEWATER RAFTING Leave at 5:30 am. Tributary Whitewater Tours has been safely guiding California whitewater rafting and American River rafting trips since 1978. We'll take a bus to the Kaweah River and begin our whitewater adventure at 8 am. There are two waterfalls and lots of rapids so dress to get wet. We'll have dinner at Denny's in Bakersfield on the way back. Pack sunscreen. sept. 9: early-bird dinner at tukwet canyon Leave at 3:30 pm. This is the beautiful Morongo golf country club everyone has been talking about. $8.95 pp for a fantastic choice of dinners. sept. 15: "masters of harmony" $10. Ballroom. 100 powerful and beautiful male voices singing the songs we all love is a real treat. We will be going to Marla's for lunch. Leave SL at 12:30 pm, show starts at 3 pm. sept. 18: TOUR OF MARCH AIR FORCE BASE $10. Leave at 9:30 am. Guided tour includes main hanger, second hanger, mission control room, new exhibit hall, and flight line with over 70 aircraft. A must see living in this area. Lunch at Olive Garden. Must have reservations in by 9/4. Sept. 19: CRAZY 8 DINNER, 5:30 pm. Dining room, RSVP Patty Joeb, 769-7008 by 9/16. sept 24: movie at south clubhouse 'quartet' 2:30 pm. $2. Critically acclaimed, this movie, directed by Dustin Hoffman, takes place in an English retirement home for gifted musicians. Beautifully told with laughter and tears. Popcorn and soda. Oct. 4: SUN LAKES FOLLIES… "AND THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS" $6. Dinner in the dining room before the show at 5 pm; 7 pm show. Call Barb by 10/1 for reservations. Dec. 29:: "PALM SPRINGS FOLLIES," Spectacular Holiday Show. $52 ($10 deposit). THIS IS THE LAST SEASON FOR THE FOLLIES. Susan Anton will be the guest performer.
