Marshall (photo inset) will be inaugurated as the seventh President of Crafton Hills College on Fri., Sept. 27, at 3 pm. The ceremony in the Finkelstein Performing Arts Center (PAC) will be followed by a reception in the PAC Quad. The public is invited to attend both events. A new president is a landmark in an institution's history. This inauguration will provide an opportunity for the community to unite in common purpose, to reflect on the history and traditions of higher education, and to look to the future of Crafton Hills College. Official collegiate inaugurations originated with the nation's nine colonial colleges in the 17th century and established the custom of formally acknowledging a change in leadership within a context of continuity and tradition. Marshall was appointed president in December, 2012, after an extensive nationwide search. Prior to becoming president‚ Marshall served as Vice President of Instruction at CHC for five years. She stepped in as interim President in July, 2012, following the retirement of Mrs. Gloria Macías-Harrison, who served as president for 12 years. Dr. Marshall, who is an advocate of student success and collaborative decision-making, was inducted into CSUSB's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Hall of Fame in 2013 and recognized in 2010 as CHC's Manager of the Year. Marshall holds a doctorate of education from USC, a master of arts in industrial/organizational psychology from CSUSB, and a bachelor of science in psychology from University of Memphis. Marshall has devoted the bulk of her professional life to the field of education because she believes it plays a major role in changing lives for the better. With 41 successful years, Crafton Hills College has matured gracefully.
