Activities Director Corner Well, we're on season three of our Beaumont four seasons. I love the fall with a little bit cooler weather, the Indian corn, colored gourds, chrysanthemums, autumn foliage and the smell of cinnamon and cloves in the specialty stores. One of my very favorite seasonal favorites around the Lodge is when the Bistro starts baking those delicious pumpkin pies. The heat of the summer always makes the time seem a bit slower, so even though we've had a wonderful time with concerts and dances and banquets and Candid Camera and tournaments of various kinds, it's nice to transition to this lovely third season. This October be sure to mark your calendars for the Reader's Theater on Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 pm as well as the HOA Garage Sale on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 8 am to 1 pm If you are interested in participating in this year's Craft Boutique on Saturday, Nov. 16, then be sure to come to the signup and orientation meeting on Oct. 16 at 6 pm. We will be going over the new format and information you'll need as well as collecting your $5 participation fee. Don't miss a very practical and informative computer education opportunitythat will be put on free in the Ballroom on Nov. 6, from 1 pm to 4 pm. Almost everybody could use a little more (or a lot more) computer knowledge. There are all types of practical tips that people could use for everyday things like getting your pictures off of the camera and saved onto your computer or a thumb drive or just uploading them to get printed at WalMart as well as more complicated computer information. You will feel so much more equipped and confident as you learn to better master the techno-world! There is no cost of admittance and everyone will benefit. I need your help if you are a veteran. Nelly and I are going to be putting together stories from you, our "Hometown Heroes," for our upcoming Veteran's Day event on Monday, Nov. 11, at 6 pm. If you would be willing to tell us one of your humorous or inspiring boot camp or military duty stories, we will write it down and include it in our Veteran's displays. We have a special program in store for you this year which will include music, refreshments and a very moving patriotic skit written by one of our very own community members. It will be a memorable time to take our hats off to those who have served our country and honor those who need to be remembered. I'm also looking for at least one uniform for each of the branches of service that we could display that evening as well. If you would be willing to let us display your uniform that night or if you would be willing to share a story with us, then please give me a call at the office. We love our veterans so much and look forward to telling you in person on that day. Everyone is welcome. Have a wonderful October and see ya around the Lodge! The Giant HOA Community Garage Sale is Saturday, Oct. 5, from 8 am to 1 pm. Come and visit the big Lodge parking Lot sale and then make a day of treasure hunting at all of the other home garage sales. Maps will be available on the day of the event, both at the Pottero Gate House and at the Lodge desk. This Garage sale will be open to treasure hunters outside the community as well so don't miss your chance! 10 By Cindy Graves, Activities Director FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2013 | community News
