garden club Our general meeting is on the second Wednesday of the month in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom at 10 am. Membership is $15 per year. All residents of Sun Lakes are welcome to join. Do you want to serve on a committee? There are many areas of interest and new volunteers are always welcome. To keep a wonderful club like ours, new people are always welcome on the board or a committee. This is important so that new ideas are found to keep the club interesting. Cheryl Hicks from Wild Oak Farms will be our October speaker. Cheryl is an iris grower and will speak to us about many varieties of irises. She will share her history of how she became an iris grower. Don't miss this one! It will be time to think about setting out our bulbs. See's Candy will be available at the next meeting on Oct. 9. See's Candy chocolates will also be for sale at the Fall Craft Fair on Nov. 1 and 2. We always have gift certificates on hand for you to give as gifts. On hand are lollipops and peanut brittle. Info., Mary or Don Ruygrok, 845-1296. Each year we have a holiday luncheon in lieu of a meeting in December. This year there will be a fashion show and entertainment by Sharon Blurain. Tickets will go on sale at the October meeting. GRAND TRADITION ESTATE & GARDENS FALLBROOK: Oct. 15, $65 pp includes bus/tip and a wonderful buffet lunch and the tour of the grounds. This is one of the most beautiful properties you will ever see. It is pristine and you will be awed by the knowledge of the docents. You won't want to miss this one. Wear your walking shoes and bring a hat. THE WELK THEATER: Nov. 21. Dinner and show: "Hairspray." $80 pp includes bus, dinner and show. Our seats are in rows 5 & 6, center. Seats assigned at time of reservation. No refunds after 11/10. DEC.: Mission Inn to see the beautiful lights on Dec. 2. Gondola iGeteaway on Dec. 9 in Long Beach. PLANT A ROW: The food planted and raised at Dysart Park by the Plant A Row program is donated to our local Pass area kitchens. Such as Carol's Kitchen and Table of Plenty. All of the planting beds available have been adopted and have been planted. FRUIT: Don't let that fruit fall off your trees and go to waste! DONATIONS FOR CHARITY: Thank you for all your donations of shampoo, conditioner and soaps. We give those to our local charities and they are passed on to those that are in need of them.
