young at heart Brats anyone? Fall brings football, a change in the weather, a transformation of the leaves from green to yellow, orange, and brown, and of course Oktoberfest celebrations everywhere. Even though traditionally Oktoberfest takes place earlier than our celebration, Young at Heart will have its version of the German festival on Sun., Oct. 20 at the North Clubhouse. For $10 pp, members can enjoy yummy brats, sauerkraut, potato salad, and dessert, along with some great entertainment. Life is good. This event will be limited to the first 90 people to sign up and pay their money to Sandy Richman at 6253 Ponte Verde Circle. BYOB and arrive at 5 pm to enjoy all the great food and entertainment until 9 pm. Our annual golf tournament is Sun., Nov. 17, on the Executive course, with dinner to follow at the North Clubhouse. The cost is $15 per golfer, which includes prize money and dinner and $10 per non-golfer, to include dinner only. Golf fees will be extra if you do not have an annual golf membership. Reservations will be accepted for the first 72 golfers to sign up with Michele Walter at 4713 Skyview Circle. The final event of 2013 will be the ever popular New Year's Eve party on Tues., Dec. 31, at the South Clubhouse. This year's entertainment will be Ricky B and the Stingers. The doors will open at 7:30 pm. Arrive on time and get settled in at your table and enjoy socializing before dinner, which will be served promptly at 8 pm. The cost for the evening is only $30 pp, which will include a great meal along with a full evening of entertainment. The most important thing to remember is to get your money in to Michele Walter, beginning Nov. 4. No reservations will be accepted before this date. There will be assigned seating, so if you wish to sit with a group, all checks must be submitted together. Seating will be 10 people per table. The year is winding down to a close and new board members will be elected at the November golf event. If you have been thinking about getting involved with Young At Heart, now is your opportunity to join in. There will be positions in need of being filled, both on the board and as an event coordinator to help out with the various functions scheduled for 2014.
