EPAP ANIMAL RESCUE GOING TO THE DOGS: Sweet Sugar is still with her foster mom. Helen reports a great improvement in this formerly abused dog. Sugar is finally beginning to trust human beings. Her shyness is ebbing. She is ready to settle into a permanent home to offer companionship and love. Info Helen, 797-0583. Without delay, this organization would like to restate its thanks to Evelyn Hawkins and her Dancers/Fashion Models. The 325 guests who were present at our August Benefit are testimony to what a great event it was. Steve Kneass gave a speech conveying our sincere thanks to Evelyn's troupe for the show and the check was presented. Steve elaborated on the commitments, tasks and other responsibilities taken on by the animal lovers of our group. He expressed gratitude to those who made a contribution on that day. Still on the subject of thanks… These go to the several individuals who donated old towels and such needed by the surrounding shelters. Helen Mattias and Carol Krickow deliver them periodically to the SPCA of Thousand Palms, Orphan Pet Oasis, Save-A-Pet in Desert Hot Springs, Coachella Animal Campus Riverside and the San Jacinto Neuter and Spay Clinic in San Jacinto, just to name a few. Reminders: Sun Lakes Craft Fair is Nov. 1 and 2. Our group will have a table with raffle baskets and pets' gifts. All proceeds go to rescuing animals. Our next meeting is Mon., Nov. 18, 10 am in the Multipurpose Room. Everyone is invited. There is no cost. If your pet has not yet been "chipped" and you would like to know more about the procedure, cost and such, do not miss this meeting. More of the program will be detailed in next month's publication. We are looking forward to seeing you on Mon., Nov. 18. Each home has an equal interest in our Homeowners Association. We are a senior gated community. To my way of thinking, it is the utopia where I will spend my remaining years, enjoying the lifestyle with my friends and neighbors. Having said all of that, who takes care of us and what do we own? There are two entities, the Board of Directors and Professional Community Management, who govern our complex. The board sets policies and the administration implements it. We are one of a few communities that is large enough to have a staff of administrators on site to assist all of our residents. One of the departments is the Property Maintenance Department that covers streets and common areas of our community. Mark Schleiden, the manager, is one of the most professional administrators we have at Sun Lakes. He will answer your questions, follow up on your requests, and even return your phone calls. Maintaining our common areas of streets, landscaping, painting, remodeling, construction and other responsibilities is most important to our financial well-being. Keeping our assets in good shape is as important as your keeping your home in excellent condition. If you have any inquiries or questions or complaints, call your District Delegate and he/she will take care of it with Mark. You could call him direct, but your Delegate will follow up for you and know the right way to phrase the problem or ask the right question. It is important to note that we have approximately $10 million in our reserve accounts to maintain and repair our assets. Each asset is analyzed as to what it takes to maintain it over the years. For example, how often should we paint a clubhouse inside and outside, what is the forecasted cost, how often should we inspect the project and so on. We do not want our assets to fall apart or be neglected. All of this work evolves to the Property Maintenance Department. If you were wondering about the reserve funds, they are invested to gain interest income to our complex. Our beautiful community is the result of our professional administration and our Governing Board.
