Annual Autumn Festival Autumn Fest marks the end of the six month Yucaipa Farmers' Market and celebrates the completion of the harvest season with live music, game, food and fun. The event is put on by the City of Yucaipa and members of the community. The event committee wanted make Autumn Fest true to the history of the city while still promoting a family environment. Fri., Oct. 25, 6 - 10 pm: Activities include Farmers' Market End of Season Celebration, food vendors, a costume contest overseen by Yucaipa Performing Arts Council (YPAC) with prizes for cutest, scariest, most original and a overall best costume in various age categories, art activities for youth, Harvest Chef competition (pie baking and sauce contest), Classic Car Show & Uptown Cruise, beer garden, Kids Fun Zone (additional fee may apply). "Band of Brothers" will entertain the crowd with their classic rock sounds. They have played all over California, notably at San Manual and Kilarney's and have a large local following and are well regarded in the industry. Sat., Oct. 26, 3 - 10 pm: Activities include an opening ceremony and the National Anthem, local entertainment and vendor market, a pie eating contest, a log sawing contest, art activities and sidewalk chalk, family olympics and tricycle races, zucchini throw downs, The Queen Stein Carrying Contest & Stein Hold 'em contest, Kids Fun Zone (additional fee may apply), jumpers, game truck and game booths. Chris Lozano and the Dixie Playboys will play country rock selections. The headline band "Lights," a tribute to Journey and more, begins at 8:30 pm. Lead singer Rudy Cardenas was a finalist in a recent season of American Idol and has performed alongside many of the greatest talents in the business. Interested in performing? We want to hear from you! We're looking for dancers, singers, comedians, musicians, jugglers, mimes — whatever you do, we want to see it. We're looking for acts who can perform approximately 10 to 15 minutes during the second night of Autumn Fest. I hope you've been enjoying the information and stories as much as we've enjoyed working on them. I'm always open to article ideas and would love to hear from you if you have any suggestions on how to make this magazine better. I also want to help local businesses as much as possible. We have some fun things planned in the upcoming issues that will be of benefit to both residents and businesses. However, we won't be able to continue to create, print and distribute "Our Yucaipa" without the support of businesses through advertising.
