Book Club documents, secret correspondence — creating a Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoftguru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated compulsively readable and touching novel about partner; to fellow private-school mothers in misplaced genius and a mother and daughter's Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a role in an absurd world. Join us Tuesday, Nov. 12, revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she at 9:30 am in the Conference Room at the Lodge to discuss the divinely funny, many-faceted novel is a best friend and, simply, Mom. Then Bernadette Where'd You Go, Bernadette, by Maria Semple. disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to We are dark for December, but the January Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to selection will be And the Mountains Echoed, by Seattle — and people in general — has made her Khaled Hosseini. You are welcome to join us at so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her any of our meetings. For more information about the Book most basic errands. It will give the brain some exercise and we can all use that at our age. We play party type of a Bridge game where we rotate partners. This enables you to meet and play with different people. All of us play at different levels and are learning how to play the game better (practice makes us better). Last month Lylia Puckett and myself were able to bid and make a grand slam. A grand slam is what every bridge player dreams of bidding and making. Thank you Lylia. You too can have the challenge and enjoyment of bidding and making your games. We will be happy to start up classes if we have enough players who want to learn the game or want to improve their game. Some of the previous classes have learned enough that they have sat in as subs when someone is not available or we can set up another table. If interested or have questions please call Helen at (951) 845-9312. Both Helen and I will be glad to help you learn the basics of the game and hope that you will join us to either learn how to play, watch or play the game of Bridge. ~ Bill Guy Taste d'Vine With the holidays upon us and that delicious Thanksgiving turkey right around the corner, it's important to take into consideration all your food and drink options. Choosing a proper wine for a meal teeming with savory foods is no easy task. You want to choose a wine that accentuates the flavors without overpowering them. This month will feature wines that compliment dinner, vegetarian and dessert menus. We are also celebrating the release of Beaujolais Nouveau, a soft red made for immediate drinking and easy to pair with most dishes. Come join us on the third Thursday, Nov. 21, 6 pm in the Ballroom as we enjoy the beginning of this festive Holiday Season in style! ~ Gracy Luna Pacific Heating & Air Conditioning FOUR SEASONS Special!
