The Four Seasons Craft Boutique By Cindy Graves This year's Craft Boutique was by far the most challenging to date. Many more residents were interested in participating this year, so a lottery was required for table space. We still ended up needing 12 more tables than what the Lodge owned. Thankfully community volunteers were found who were willing to donate tables, so that we could offer 12 additional spaces for anxious crafters. The set up was on Friday night, Nov. 15, and everything went well aside from one poor crafter who fell during set up and went to the hospital with a broken wrist. The morning of the event was dark and stormy; the Lodge fireplace was glowing and the Ballroom was staged with over 60 resident craft vendors all artfully and tastefully displaying their beautiful wares. Upon entering, you were met with the most wonderful cloud of holiday fragrances. The lavender soaps and lotions handcrafted by the Parkers, the cinnamon potpourri, the jellys and jams and fragrant breads mixed in with the aroma of fresh brewed coffee made you breath in as hard as you could, just to taken in as much as possible. It was a cold but delightfully cozy event. Everyone of the over 500 people who came, left with the holiday spirit in full flame. There was so much to look at and so many decisions as to the spending of your lunch money that your head just swirled… or was that the lack of sleep? In any case, it was a fantastically fun time and all who participated in making this event special are to be commended! A big round of applause goes to Nelly Alcocer and Barbara Miller for being such great partners as well as all those great helpers who let us use their tables. Thank you so much!
