computer club We meet the first and third Thursdays of the month in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room at 1 pm except during the summer months when we only meet once a month. Persons with all levels of computer knowledge are welcome to attend the meetings. There are presentations by guest speakers, tech news, and virus alerts, learning sessions with power point, solving computer problems, discussing computer usage and meeting new friends. At the October meeting, there will be three guest speakers from the Verizon store in Beaumont to inform us on the latest phone systems and home security systems. In November, we discussed computer audio sounds, music, and videos. Later that month, Peggy Andrews taught us how to make labels and address envelopes for holiday mailings using our computer systems. Our Holiday party is Thurs., Dec. 5, at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room with suggestions for latest tech gifts for the computer whiz in the family. Thurs., Dec. 19 there is no meeting for holiday vacation. Dues are $20 per family. We would like to thank everyone for participating in our November book sale. We hope you all enjoy your new books. December is a good time to take a break from all the holiday hustle and bustle and relax with your new reading material. Speaking of reading material, we welcome your book donations. All books written in 2003 or later are greatly appreciated. As always, large print editions are especially welcome. Should you wish to donate a large number of books, please call Ann Reese at 845-3775. Our volunteers were honored with a thank you luncheon last month. Their hard work and dedication are truly appreciated. Everyone had a great time and all were able to socialize and meet with their fellow volunteers. Thanks to everyone! We are always looking for new volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to become familiar with our libraries; volunteers also provide a service to our fellow Sun Lakers. Please contact Peggy Inman at 845-8609 should you wish to participate. Our book for December is We Are Water. The latest from Wally Lamb (She's Come Undone) is a contemporary family saga, vividly told from multiple points of view, that traces the impact of secrets and tragedy, the pain of prejudice and abuse, and the powers of hope and love. Have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy your books.
