EXCURSIONS Sign-ups begin for the Recreation Department excursions on Dec. 2, at 8 am, in the Rec. Dept. offices. PLEASE NOTE! Due to some of the excursion refund policies, and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you L.A. Museum of the Holocaust Tues., Feb. 25 7:30 am - 4 pm, $21. The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust boasts it is the west coast's largest archive of documents, relics, and other primary source materials from the Holocaust period (1933-1945). The museum presents the history of the Holocaust as objectively as possible. For this reason, the exhibit presents as many original artifacts as it can and displays them in a way that allows them to tell the individual stories they contain. You will be given audio guide players that will Penchanga Resort & Casino Wed., Feb. 5, 8 am – 4 pm. $5 with $5 easy play money. Spend five hours at Pechanga Resort and Casino. The casino's well planned layout allows guests to move easily among the 3,000+ slot and video machines and over 130+ table games. Cocktail service is available to guests on the gaming floor with several bars, lounges, and restaurants close to the casino floor action. Make it a lucky day at Pechanga! allow you to listen to the many narrative explanations found throughout the museum. You will have the chance to meet a Holocaust survivor after touring the museum and learn about their war experience and participate in a question and answer period. Afterwards, we will take a short drive over to the Los Angeles "Farmers Market" and "The Grove" where you will be turned loose to find groceries, restaurants, specialty foods, shops, and services. We will head home approximately at 2:15 pm. Clubhouse Decorating Please help me in thanking our volunteer decorating committee that consists of Sue Miller, Linda Massey, and Connie Froehle. They have helped us decorate the Main Clubhouse lobby, library, Ballroom, and restaurant for the last three years, and they do a beautiful job. We would also like to thank residents from District 17 and 18 for helping us decorate the North and South Clubhouses. If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. waiting list policy The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/ excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. Contact the Rec. Dept. if you have any questions about either of these two policies. We accept checks only (payable to Sun Lakes). All Recreation Classes, Excursions, and Special Events are open to residents only, unless otherwise specified. We may open Excursions and Special Events to guests if numbers are low and the activity is in danger of being canceled. -Thank you!
