W From the Board of Directors elcome to the first edition of our K. Hovnanian's Four Seasons at Hemet news magazine, The Hemet Herald. As we have said from time to time, our community and its infrastructure are a work in progress. In this regard, we determined that it was time to take a fresh approach to the style and content of our news publication. While we were well pleased with the quality of the product created by the previous publisher, we were limited to a certain page count which in turn reduced the amount of community news that could be included in each issue. This was a function of ensuring that adequate space was provided for our advertisers, who, by placing ads in the newsletter, in fact pay for the cost of its publication and mailing. By arrangement with our new publisher, Image Up, the needs of both entities can now be adequately met. Additionally, in due course an interactive on-line version will also be available. As with all new endeavors, some fine tuning will follow. In the meantime, enjoy! The year 2013 has been a productive year for our Association. Many thanks are in order and each deserves recognition by name. Thanks to our Facilities and Landscape committees, we have seen many projects brought to the table and completed. Thanks to our Finance Committee, careful funding was put into place. Thanks to our Emergency Preparedness Committee and its Street Captains branch for pursuing training and providing community education programs. Thanks to our Access Control, Architectural Review, Bistro, Community Awareness, Grant, Insurance, Landscape, Library, Nominations, Salon, and Rules & Regulations Committees. Thank you Sunshine Team! Thanks to our Social Committee, the Club Leaders, our Activities Director, the Four Seasons Players, the Vintage Voices and our individual event coordinators for arranging a multitude of terrific activities throughout the year. Participation on the part of our residents was at an all time high. Our thanks also goes out to our entire Euclid Management Team, to Paul our handyman, to our housekeeping crew, to Mike and his O'Connell Landscape team and to Juanita and her G4S troops who staff our gate and roving patrol. Thank you, Francisco, and all your Bistro staff. Thank you, Carmina, and your Salon staff. I would be totally remiss if I did not say a heartfelt thank you to Tony, Ken, Greg, Ross, Russ and Carey who work tirelessly on your Board of Directors. It is an honor and privilege to be in service to our community with folks such as these! Last, but not least, thank you to my dear wife Charlotte, for all her work, constant encouragement and support. The year 2013 has also been painful for some of our residents who lost loved ones. To each of you, we send our sincere condolences. Others have experienced illness, debilitating health or injury issues and/or emotional trauma, either personally or within the family. To each we send our best wishes to you and yours. Some have seen family members don the uniform and go off to serve our country in harm's way. To each of you, we send our prayers for their safety and prompt return home. Some have experienced the joy of new grandchildren and even "great" grandchildren. To each of you we send our "smiles" and congratulations! The end of 2013 is upon us. As seniors we are acutely aware of how "time flies." Soon all the festivities of the Holiday Season will arrive. 'Tis the season for many things, among which are reflections on what was, what is and what might have been. As we consider such things we are inevitably drawn to cherished memories which, with each passing year, become more precious. We are so fortunate to live here, surrounded by folks of our own ilk, to be able to share our memories of a lifetime and to relate to the experiences of others shared in return. We live in a wonderful place. We truly are living the dream. To everyone we send Season's Greetings, and to quote Tiny Tim's message from Charles Dickens' timeless story, A Christmas Carol, "May God Bless Us, Every Oneā€¦" Merry Christmas. Sincerely, on behalf of your Board of Directors, Tony, Ken, Greg, Ross, Russ and Carey, Hal Townend, President | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2013 | 2
