Garden Club We meet the second Wednesday of the month at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Our January program will be the installation of officers and an overview of our programs. It was another wonderful year for us. Thanks to our terrific members and friends. With our fundraising over the years and the See's Candies sales we were able to support many of our local charities this past year. We thank you one and all. For those who are not members of the Garden Club, we invite you to come and visit us. You can attend once without joining and you may find that you like it and would like to know more about what we do and our many programs. We have a beautification program and choose local areas to beautify. We collect box tops, cell phones, etc. and a charity research committee works hard to determine where our money will be donated. We have spring, fall and December luncheons. We also have wonderful trips which we all enjoy. We collect those soaps and toiletries that you donate to give to groups that truly need those items. We have a Memorial Tree, Penny Pines and Plant a Tree programs. There is a group called Plant a Row that raises vegetables and donate them to groups that feed those in need. Our fruit pickers will come and pick your fruit trees to donate as well. And, of course, the sales of See's Candy is our major fund raiser. We sell right 18 | sun lakes lifestyles | January 2014 | social clubs & groups in the Main Clubhouse Lobby so you don't travel to pick up your candy. So, you see, there is a lot for you to come and hear about to learn what the we do. Speaking of trips, coming in the following months are a trip to the Americana Mall in Glendale on Feb. 4, The Living Desert on May 5, Grand Traditions Gardens on June 10 and Squaw Valley in August. Of course other trips may come up as the year goes on. They are always fun and we get to leave the driving to our tour bus driver. Trip info., Evelyn Hawkins at, 845-7199 or 616-4542.
