Memory Care Group (Formerly Alzheimer's & Dementia Helpers) Wishing all of you a happy and healthy 2014. We ended 2013 with our annual Holiday Luncheon. Everyone had a fun time and enjoyed the delicious lunch in our restaurant. We begin 2014 with our January meeting on Thurs., Jan. 16, at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker will be a representative from California Phones, speaking on the Telephone Access Program. This program offers free specialized phones. You will learn how to receive a phone customized to your needs. Some phones are amplified for hearing impaired, while others have large buttons to make it easier to dial. There are many different types of specialized phones. Come enjoy and learn at the meeting while our volunteers play games, take walks and entertain your loved ones. Drop them off at the Arts and Craft Room, go on to the meeting and know they are well taken care of. This month Susan Brown returns to entertain. Our next caregivers support group meets Tues., Jan. 14, at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. This group is open to all caregivers, not just a caregiver to an Alzheimer's patient. All are welcome. Kay Perryman leads this group. She comes to us from the Daybreak Adult Day Services in Hemet. This meeting is all about you and your needs. Come enjoy and discuss care giving issues or whatever is on your mind. Refreshments are served at this meeting. If you have any questions regarding the Tuesday support group, contact Diane at 769-0130. Remember, the Tuesday support group is for caregivers only, no patients. If you have any questions or would like to learn more, we have reading materials we can share with you. Contact Shirley at 845-2008 or Anne 845-8700. This means symptoms get worse over time. 28: As the disease progresses, people often have trouble with the concept of time and numbers. Parkinson's Support We meet January through October, typically on the 2nd Wed. of the month, 11 am - 12:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Bus room. There are discussions on the latest findings and research, medications, nutrition, exercise, and coping skills brought to us by various speakers.
