Friends we will miss Louise Maggs passed away on November 19, 2013, at the age of 83. Chuck and Louise Maggs moved from Anaheim Hills, CA to Sun Lakes a year after it opened. Chuck and Bryon started the Ping Pong Club with just a few tables and just a few players at the time. Louise's nickname at ping pong was "Killer Babe." Chuck and Louise were married for 63 years and their names for each other were "Love Dove." Mother lost her love dove May 16, 2011, and she was never the same. Mother joined Dad November 19, and the grave marker at the Riverside National Cemetery was changed to "Love Doves Together Again." We love and miss you mom and dad. Philip Isadore Blumenfeld July 1921 to October 2013. Philip was born in Chicago, IL but never liked cold weather, so after WWII he moved to California. He was a bombardier successfully completing 53 missions. He loved traveling and taking pictures. He left behind a wife, two daughters and a grand-daughter. The family wishes to thank all who sent cards and condolences. John Machisic passed away at home on November 11, 2013, after a challenging battle with leukemia. He was born on July 16, 1931 in Turtle Creek, PA. His parents were Stanka and Daniel Machisic. He attended high school in Turtle Creek and graduated in 1949. Receiving a football scholarship, he went to the University of Pittsburgh. The next year he transferred to University of Nebraska, again with a football scholarship, graduating in 1954 with a bachelor's degree in education. He married his wife Peggy, while still in school. He and Peggy had three children: Vicki Bryant of Yerington, NV, Daniel Machisic of Littleton, CO, and Steven Machisic of Palm Coast, FL. The family moved to Lakewood, CA in 1956 and lived there for 38 years before moving to Banning in 1994. John received his Masters degree and Ph.D. in Education from the University of Southern California. He worked in education for 32 years as a teacher, counselor, high school principal and eventually an asst. superintendent in the El Segundo and Buena Park school districts, retiring in 1986. He loved Banning and decided to become an active part of it through involvement in community affairs. This service included Sun Lakes delegate, Sun Lakes Homeowner's Board Of Directors 1999-2005 (served as President), Beaumont School Board 1997-2001 (served as President) and Banning City Council 10 years until December, 2012 (Mayor 2004-2006). He was also a member of the Western Riverside Council of Governments, the Riverside Conservation Authority, the Community Redevelopment Board Member (Chairman 2003-2005), and the Community Benefits Committee. John was preceded in passing by Peggy in 2009, his wife of 58 years, his mother, father and sister. John is survived by his 3 children: Vicki (Walter), Daniel (Jeanette), and Steven (Shannon), 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his beloved companion, Joyce McRae. John will be greatly missed and remembered with much love, fondness and respect by his family and many friends.
