Delegate Assembly Report Joe Formino, Chairman, District Delegate Assembly So you are not going to make any New Year Resolutions? Why? Because it only takes a few days to break or neglect them? Because your track record is lousy? Because if you tell someone (and you will) they always check up on you? Because you always come up with a bunch of reason why it was a dumb idea in the first place? Maybe it is all of the above! Let's face it — when we were kids we took resolutions seriously and we tried hard to live by them and do the right thing. As we grew older, we became less serious and we assured ourselves we didn't need resolutions to accomplish what had to be done. REMEMBER — we were going on a diet, we were going to save more money (how about just saving some?), we promised to be better to our brother or sister, we were going to keep our room cleaner or do more around the house and the list went on and on. Well I've made a resolution… to suggest to you to make a few resolutions! And here they are: 1. Make more of an effort to wave and say "Hi" to the people in my neighborhood. You would be surprised how good it makes someone feel when you are friendly. It usually puts a smile on their face and it certainly will make you feel better. 2. Participate more in the activities and events at Sun Lakes and in your District. This doesn't mean you have to go out and join ten clubs or groups. It means you will sign up for a luncheon or dinner or pot luck, or attend the 4th of July festivities or a day trip or the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. 3. I will obey the rules better than I have in the past. I will try to stop at the "stop" signs more often and watch my speed. Instead of going 40 mph, I'll try for 25 mph. Keeping my ten year old grandson from driving the golf cart would probably be a good idea also. Doesn't it make you feel better already, reading these resolutions and say to yourself, "I'll do it!" 4 | sun lakes lifestyles | January 2014 | community news EPAP ANIMAL RESCUE We wish you a Happy New Year. May your holiday dreams come true. With each New Year comes hope… ours is that you continue in a journey of kindness and compassion towards our furry friends. We had several successful rescues this past month. Thankfully, since most of the dogs had identifications, they quickly were reunited with their owners. In 2014, we resume our regular meetings on the third Monday of every other month starting Jan. 20, 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. More often than not, a speaker with a topic of interest such as training, grooming, health issues, boarding, service animals, and wild life encounters, etc., will have great information to partake. At this next meeting, we will have a questions and answers session so that you can share your ideas to help us on what you believe we should focus maybe more, or what other subjects you would like to be covered. Please mark your calendar! Finally, the blankets, pillows, beds, towels keep coming. Thank you very much. Info., CC, 769-4934.
