EXCURSIONS Sign-ups begin for the Recreation Department excursions on Jan. 2, at 8 am, in the Rec. Dept. offices. PLEASE NOTE! Due to some of the excursion refund policies, and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you San Bernardino Symphony "Sax & Strings" Sat., March 1, 4:30 - 10 pm, $39 pp. Praised for his ability to remain musical, poetic, and profound while navigating the challenges of contemporary music, saxophonist Matt Ennis vibrant career encompasses solo, recital, and chamber music performances, blending programs of avant-garde contemporary saxophone works with re-interpreted baroque and classical transcriptions. Highlights from Matt's 2012-13 recital tour include performances in Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, and Barcelona. Matt has worked under several distinguished composers including Alan Silvestri, John Williams, John Corigliano, Thomas Ades, and many more. Check-in for this excursion will be in the Sandwedge starting at 4:30 pm, dinner from 4:45 to 6:15 pm, and the bus will depart promptly at 6:30 pm. "The Book of Mormon" Sat., March 15, 9:30 am - 6 pm, $92 pp (no refunds). The Book of Mormon is coming to a stage near you at the Pantages Theater! The Book of Mormon features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone are the four-time Emmy Award-winning creators of the landmark animated series, South Park. Tony Award winner, Lopez, is co-creator of the longest running hit musical comedy "Avenue Q." We will begin the day with a deluxe motorcoach trip to the heart of Hollywood. You will be turned loose at Hollywood & Highland where there is a variety of restaurants to enjoy (lunch on own) before the 2 pm showing of the fabulous theatrical "The Book of Mormon." If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. waiting list policy The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/ excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. Contact the Rec. Dept. if you have any questions about either of these two policies. We accept checks only (payable to Sun Lakes). All Recreation Classes, Excursions, and Special Events are open to residents only, unless otherwise specified.
