We've all been taught the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So many of us will challenge ourselves to become more fit through better nutrition and exercise, but what about our minds? We must challenge our minds to accept change. The older we get the harder it seems to be for us to change. The business environment changes with new laws and regulations that challenge us to keep our doors open. I feel a responsibility to my employees who depend on me for a steady income. My wife, Denise, and I face many challenges in our business, but we must run it in a smart way. If we refuse to accept change, then our business will not grow, and we will be faced with laying off employees instead of continuing to hire. Our decisions affect more than just us. The same guidelines apply to our Chamber of Commerce. The decisions the Board of Directors make affect relationships with fellow business owners and ultimately the growth and success of Yucaipa. We continue to enjoy our relationship with the city on the many joint ventures such as the Music and Arts Festival, which kicks off the Certified Farmers Market in May, all the way to Winterfest and more. I am looking forward to 2014 and am honored to continue to serve as the Chairman of your Yucaipa Valley Chamber of Commerce. I will be happy to meet with anyone who may have questions or concerns about the chamber.
