Library Committee Paisano Club It's Bingo night so join the fun at our first regular meeting of 2014, on Fri., Feb. 7, in the South Clubhouse at 5 pm. The meal includes Italian sausage, peppers and onions, antipasto, fruit salad and a delicious dessert, $13 for members and $15 for guests. Coffee will be provided; all other liquid refreshment is BYO. Don't forget to bring a little extra cash for the games and the 50/50 raffle. The deadline is Sun., Feb. 2. Please drop off your checks to Dee Nicoletti, 1479 Boca West, 846-3096, if you wish to attend. Our Winter Wonderland event held in January was a great success. Food, drink, music and dance were enjoyed by all and in addition to that many lucky people won beautiful baskets as door prizes. Before the partying started the new slate of officers for 2014 was installed. A special "thank you" to 2013 past presidents Caroline Mozlan and Marie Grinceri; treasurer Dee Nicoletti, who will continue as treasurer, and Provie Donadio, the first president of the Paisano Club. The Pasta Festival is a special event on Fri., March 7, at 5 pm in the South Clubhouse. John Russo will delight us with four different types of pasta served with sauces from various regions of Italy and accompanied by salad and rolls. Each table will have two bottles of wine and the price includes a fabulous dessert. The cost is $15 for members and $17 for guests. Checks should be delivered to Dee Nicoletti by March 3. John's credo is Chi mangia bene, vive bene…. He who lives well eats well! John will also share with us some "secrets" on making fabulous al dente pasta and will regale us with stories of his 40 years in the restaurant business. "All Things Irish" will be Fri., April 4, at 5 pm in the South Clubhouse. (We are a little late celebrating St. Paddy's day, but this will not dampen our Irish spirit). Don't miss the traditional Irish dinner of corn beef and cabbage with all the fixings. Coffee and dessert will be provided. Please feel free to BYOB. Our entertainment is by a wonderful young group of Irish dancers. Get your dancing shoes ready to do the Irish jig. It's $13 for members and $15 for guests. Again checks go to Dee Nicoletti, 1479 Boca West, 846-3096. All are welcome to join the Paisano Club. Paisano means "friend." We like to think there are no strangers among our group, only friends. Our annual membership is $15. Please contact Judy Garthwaite (797-3130) or Dee Nicoletti (8463096) for information. Arrivederci. 16 | sun lakes lifestyles | FEBRUARY 2014 | social clubs & groups Greetings from your library volunteer staff! We hope the New Year finds each of you in good health and good spirits. We want to start the year off with a challenge. We call it the "Ten Minute Challenge." You are all invited to visit the Main Clubhouse Library and sit down in one of its beautiful and luxurious leather chairs. Next you will find that your body and spirit will relax and all the troubles of the world will cease to exist. The next step is to pick out a book from the great inventory of both hardback and soft cover books (located across the hall). From there you will turn the book's pages and experience a new world of action, adventure and fantasy. The more you read, the further your life will change. Once you have completed the challenge, you will be refreshed and ready to live your life more fully! Please accept this challenge and continue to reward yourself throughout 2014. Once again, we would like to thank each of you who took the time to contribute books to our wonderful libraries and we look forward to your continued support in 2014. Books being donated should be published in the year 2004 or later due to limited space. Should you want to donate a large number of books or have trouble getting around, please contact either Peggy Inman at 845-8609 or Russ Anderson at 845-9414 to have them picked up. Library volunteers, the heart of our organization, deserve special recognition and thanks from all Sun Lakes residents. They keep our book shelves organized and ready for you to borrow your favorite book. If you would like to become a library volunteer, please contact Jill Falat at 797-3263. Thank you volunteers! Please watch in future columns of this magazine for book reviews and recommendations. Happy reading and we hope to see you at the libraries located in all of the Clubhouses throughout Sun Lakes.
