We began our new season on Jan. 2. We formed in July 2012 with six teams of five to eight players each. It has become so popular it had to expand to eight teams this season, adding many new players to the group. The Winter 2014 Season began with a 10 am General Meeting and Awards Presentation to the team that won the previous season. That team was Breakers, captained by Jon Reese and Jim Langford. Breakers was fortunate to peak at the right time, coming from a fourth place finish in the regular season to win seven of its ten playoff matches. After the meeting, a free pizza lunch was enjoyed before the new season commenced. The season runs from Jan. 2 through March 27. The group welcomes anyone who would like to watch our tournament matches. Stop by the Billiards Room anytime on Thursdays, as six teams will compete throughout the day, beginning at 9 am and finishing in the late afternoon. Two other teams will play off-site matches each week. We practice most weekdays and Saturdays from around 12 to 2 pm, and welcome anyone who would like to play along with us on those days. While we play the game of 8-Ball based on APA (American Poolplayers Assn.) rules with some house rules added, the focus is on friendly competition and good fun, not on win-at-all-costs intensity. Either way, we would love to have you come and join us! No equipment? No problem… just come to the courts. Instruction and equipment to loan for new players will be provided. Courts are located at the Main Clubhouse, next to the Golf Pro Shop. Pickleball hours are Monday through Saturday, at 8 am, and Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 6 pm.
