Home Again Bowling at Moreno Valley 2014 bowling begins with the mid-season position round on Wed., Jan. 8. As of the press deadline, two teams are tied for 1st Place: 3 Gals and A Guy (Ginger Hines, Delores Arterberry, Betsy Zalewski, Don Hines) and Recycled Teens ( Dottie Lucas, Lisa Park, Al Kaminsky, Jim McCallum.) Mid-Season individual achievements are: Men Scratch Series - Bob McLean 728, Men Scratch Game - Robert Chavez, Men Handicap Series - Rick Waters 758, Mens Handicap Game - Dick Taylor 299. Womens Scratch Series - Dianne Everley 574, Womens Scratch Game - Yvonne Wood 225, Womens Handicap Series - Ginger Hines 751, Womens Handicap Game - Pat Sedlacek 279. Individual High Averages: Bob McLean 208 George Thiel 204, Rick Waters 199, Dianne Everley 170, Mitzi Taniguchi 169, Bridgette Greb 163. Most Improved bowlers are Bob McLean and Lisa Park. Home Again bowls every Wednesday morning at Brunswick Moreno Valley Bowl with practice beginning at 9:20 am. Bowling fees are $8 per week which includes lineage and prize fund. Sun Lakers Wednesday at Canyon Lanes Ten In The Pit Takes Lead at Canyon Lanes: The team of Dottie Johsz, Marlene Zander, Ron Morgan & Herb Breuer jumped into the top spot of the Wednesday bowling competition as the league finished 2013 with 15 weeks of activity remaining for the season. The Almosts (Steve Kijula, Emily & Ida Nily and Curley Mann) trail by 1 1/2 games with the Surprises (Terry & Ross Prather and Joni & Hal Taylor) only 1/2 game back. Team high scores to date: Scratch series: The Green Machine (LaWanda & Ray Roberson, Mel Green & Darrell Botello) 2093. Ten In The Pit 1963. Scratch game: 3 Hits & a Miss, 712, (Barbara & Stan Semic, Paul Wojton & Burt Garbell; Ravens, 693, (Joe Griffin, Maureen Condon, Bill McDonald & Bob Mejia). Handicap Series, Coulda Shoulda, 2606 (Maureen & Michael Farra, Keiko Fuji & Margo Kuhn); Pinbusters, 2563, (Herb & Pat Watson, George Johsz & Gene Sax). Handicap game: Pick-Ups, 921, (Lu Seymour, Lisa Koerbel, Carolee Matthews & Jerry Pardue); In the Pocket, 905, (Mary Lou & Lee Peterson, Nancy & Jim Brown). Sun Lakers Monday at Canyon Lanes The year ended with the Position Round for the first half of the season. Team "Lucky 13" (Renie Harrison, Faye & Herb Beardon, Ray Roberson) had a three point lead on the second place team, "Pretenders" (Harry Taylor, Mae Brock, Joe Larue, Bruce Herwig). Each week we have new names cropping up in the following categories: Scratch Series: Andy Toro 658, Barbara Semic 502; Scratch Game: Marv Steggell 257, Jeanne Stolarz 182; Handicap Series: Burt Garbell 737, Mae Brock 672; Handicap Game: Michael Owen 278, and Gail Daniello 246. Congratulations bowlers! If the second half the season goes as smoothly as the first half, 2014 will be another terrific year for the Sun Lakers at Canyon Lanes. The equipment continues to improve, as well as the skill of our bowlers. It doesn't get any better than that. Sun Lakers & Friends Tuesday Bowling League Competition is heating up. As of Dec. 10, the Starz & Stripes are in first place with a one game lead. Team members are Larry Stormes, Peggy Laurel, and Teri and Dan Comerford. On the heels of Starz & Stripes, The 4-X team is in second place with a tie for third between the 11-4 Foffs and 9-Green Machine who are three games out.
