A Message From Your General Manager By Rick Ruth, CCAM The Annual "Membership Meeting" is just a couple of months away. The meeting is tentatively set for April 23. This year there will be voting for the election of four Directors. In your March billing you will receive a "Notice of Election/Call for Candidates" and a Request for Candidates Statement (resume). For any owners in good standing who are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, please fill out the resume and return it by the deadline indicated on the form. Board Members serve for two years. Please refer to the article from President Hal Townend for more information on qualifications. When the time comes, please exercise your rights as an owner and vote. "DID YOU HEAR?" When your fellow residents utter these three words, what comes to mind? Is it bad news, good news, or neighborhood gossip? We hope that it's good news, but it may not be in a lot of cases. Following these three little words, most of the time, the next thing spoken is a rumor. The Board is asked this all the time, and they do a great job of squelching them. On the serious side, I want to talk about casual conversations that sometimes lead to gossip. What is most harmful is when we hear one neighbor talk about another neighbor or someone who has a problem or is allegedly violating a rule. For reasons unknown, instead of dealing with the problem face to face as neighbors should, they tell everyone else on the block, and then tell us. When this occurs, we will ask the resident to "put it in writing" on the proper form. Please be reminded that the Management Office treats all violations as confidential matters. Two reporting parties are required for all but common area violations, and they are the only ones who should be involved. I've touched on this subject in past articles. When a reporting party tells the neighbors, this breaches the confidentiality of the matter. It also makes the neighborhood atmosphere more hostile. This has happened recently and I feel it necessary to write about it. I hear from a lot of you, and it's been written before, that this is the final destination for a lot of folks. If that's true, you are going to be around your fellow neighbors for a long time so please be a good neighbor. If you've had some troubles in the past, be the first to extend the olive branch. Enjoy Valentine's Day on the 14th. Don't forget to tell someone special you love them.
