Sunshine Team "Those Who Bring Shine To The Lives Of Others Cannot Help But Bring Shine To Themselves" Crumbs from Cookie: I feel truly blessed to have absolutely nothing to report! No sponsored memorials at all and several serious conditions have improved. We certainly hope and pray it continues for months. As of now, we only have three speakers confirmed for this year. We have some great ideas but nothing for sure. If you have any ideas, put them in an envelope and leave them at the front desk marked "Cookie". This is an area we could use help. Do you have a lot of contacts and enjoy positive women? We have an opening for a program chair. If this is your expertise please call me. We do hope you enjoyed the talk by Dr.Quijada on medicine combinations. I made a request to have a doctor come and talk about diabetes. There are so many residents struggling with this disease. February brings Valentine's Day and matters of the heart. We all know the heart needs exercise but what is safe for us seniors and how much do we need to do? Our own Shannon will be speaking on exercise for seniors, do come and bring a neighbor! So many times we have heard,"I didn't know the program was today! I would have been there." We do our best, a poster in the lobby; word of mouth and we provide information for a community blast. Still we have heard, "I wish I had known." We have now purchased a community sign that will be posted along Four Seasons Blvd. letting you know that a Sunshine event will be that particular Wednesday. We hope this helps. Please know that for those of you who have suffered a loss that we were unaware of, we send our love and sympathies to you and your family. May rays of sunshine help you heal. Until next month. Tidbit from Donna: Check out www.heart. org. Learn to form healthy habits by replacing the bad ones. Substituting healthy habits for unhealthy ones reward you with more stamina, better quality of life – and a healthier you. I always check out Donna's tidbits. I hope you go to these sites as well. This was one of the best on health. Certainly for the heart but it includes guidance on nutrition, stress, exercise and charts listing the numbers you want for your cholesterol. There are also chats listing recommended screenings including how often tests need to be done. Coronary risk factors that cannot be changed include; increasing age, male sex (gender) and heredity. Major risk factors that can be changed include smoking, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, physical inactivity, obesity and overweight and diabetes. I'd like to end with their mission statement. "Our mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. That single purpose drives all we do. The need for our work is beyond question." Amen to that! Ray of Sunshine Quote: "Each new day is a blank page in the diary of your life. The secret of success is in turning that diary into the best story you possibly can." ~ Douglas Pagels, A Wonderful Resolution For The New Year! 11 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | February 2014 | Pick up your Sunshine Information Brochure at the Lodge Front Desk.
