13 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2014 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2014 | 14 Facilities Committee Library Committee As you read this, if all went well and the weather cooperated, we should be enjoying our newly refurbished pool. You will notice that some of the pool side markings and signage have changed to comply with the latest state codes. All of this work is funded through the reserve account. We have a number of other maintenance and improvement projects in the development stages. These include the addition of exhaust ventilation fans for the Salon and improved sidewalk lighting along Four Season Blvd. You may have noticed the solar light installed on the sidewalk between Bogey Ave and Trevino Ave. This is a test to see if we can use this type of light to improve the sidewalk lighting and not have to run additional underground conduits for electrical power. Other long range projects include a master plan for improvements to the Plaza and BBQ areas and the selection of the next grouping of streets to be slurry sealed. Welcome to your Four Season's library. This is your library. We are a committee of volunteers who give our time and energy in keeping the library in good order. You are providing the books and we appreciate you. Help us to keep the library current by donating hardbound prolific authors from the year 2000 up. Our paperbacks are 2010-2014. We had two bags of pristine paperbacks donated recently but only three were within our acceptable dates. The Hemet Library was very excited to receive them. We certainly help them to stay open! Our non-fiction section is filled with biographies and a broad range of interesting topics. We now have some room on the bottom shelf for different topics normally not accepted. A travel section was started and we could use more books. Check them out in the lower shelves. We never accept technical books and actually the downtown library doesn't accept them either. Our magazine rack holds three months of donated material. As of this writing please bring, January, February and March magazines for us to display. After reading them please be sure to return them for others to read. We are still waiting for the pull out shelving to be placed in the audio book section and the children's movies cabinet. Once they are installed it will improve making your selection and keep those doors on their hinges. There is a small chair to sit on as you pull out the shelf and look through them. Janet Evanovich has written her 20th Stephanie Plum novel, Takedown Twenty. I have been following her from the very beginning starting with "One for the Money". What a riot. Once again Stephanie had me laughing out loud waking the dogs. Stephanie isn't the best bounty hunter, she does carry a gun but without bullets. There are two men in her life. Joe Morelli, a cop that she really should marry and a hunk that is a security specialist named Ranger. Stephanie has a side kick named Lula that helps bring in the bad guys. And, wait until you meet her family. In this book Stephanie is involved in bringing mobster Salvatore known as "Uncle Sunny" in but no one will help her find him. Her life is in danger many times in the most hilarious ways possible. Ranger also needs her help in solving a string of murders and they enlist Stephanie's Grandma Mazur. It's a wild funny ride that you'll enjoy! I'll end with the jacket cover review, "With bullet holes in her car, henchmen on her tail, and a giraffe named Kevin running wild in the streets of Trenton, Stephanie will have to up her game for the ultimate takedown." I hadn't mentioned Kevin yet! In hardback section. They have had their say about the criminal activity and intrusions into their neighborhoods. They participated in the process toward resolving the problem and they got involved. Most of us came to Four Seasons Hemet to retire, relax and smell the roses, not to stay on alert and watch for intruders. Therefore, we understand their plight and we are working toward addressing it. We are looking into ways of better securing the west side of our Four Seasons property. We have the survey maps in our possession, which delineate the property lines just west of Stevenson and Lopez Streets. We are in the process of making contact with the Hemet Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff's office to determine jurisdictional boundaries. This determination will aid us in planning next steps toward securing Four Seasons property along those property lines. We believe in team work on projects undertaken by the Access Control Committee. Two projects tackled in early February, 2014 were the relocation of the transponder reader closer to the World Cup Gate; and removal of the speed bump at that entrance too. The other project involved a new license plate reader and camera, also at the World Cup gate. The committee member working hard on both occasions was Bob Beech. We owe Bob a big thank you for his leadership on this very detailed project. Please note: the FOB reader still remains in its old position, just past the guard house; but it will be moved closer to the new transponder reader in the very near future. Signage changes are also planned for the World Cup entrance, in the near future. Access Control Committee The winter season can take its toll on many of our plants and trees. The grass too suffers from a variety of effects of the seasons. Moles, gophers, rabbits, and those cute little squirrels also play a major role in the destruction of our livings plants. You may believe that nothing is being done about everything that affects our greenery. This is not the case. There are laws and regulations as to how we can remove and eliminate the little creatures. Our landscape group is working to neutralize and eliminate the problem while conforming to the laws and regulations regarding the removal of those little pests. The rainy season should have arrived by now. However, as one can note we have received very little precipitation to this point. As we move towards spring and summer this is of concern. Consideration to potential drought conditions is being given to the selection of plants that will be used as we replace those plants and trees that require removal. As one can imagine, decisions made along those lines can be difficult while attempting to maintain a beautiful green and colorful landscape and keeping our water usage to a minimum. Let's keep our fingers crossed that we receive some significant rain and showers before the summer heat hits us. Landscape Committee
