No sponsored memorials for another month. We do have residents with health problems and surgeries needing a card and telephone call. If you are aware of a neighbor in need would you, let us know? We rely strictly on word of mouth and that makes all residents part of the Sunshine Team! Call me at 951-926-6131 to report a neighbor in need. At last month's business meeting we had a care giver visit us as way of introduction. We want to be a resource for you when you need it. We were very impressed with them. They are licensed and bonded. If you are a bonded driver or care giver, call me to set up a meeting to speak to the management team. One of the most important resource Four Seasons has is Linda Caricato, Bereavement Services Coordinator. At present, Linda is in the middle of her current grief support group that ends in March. Grief is individual; there are no rules on how you are supposed to feel. I have recommended Linda to several widows and widowers and she has helped guide many through this terrible time. To contact Linda call 951-658-9288 extension 3534. Do you need crutches? What about a raised toilet seat? Cane? Wheelchair? Sunshine is a great resource at rounding up the equipment so you may borrow instead of having to buy equipment for a short time. Call Jeanne Lincoln when you are in need and she'll find it. Last year we started one of our most fun celebrations to be held every January and then proceeded to forget this year! This year only we celebrated in February our Nonagenarian Birthday Party. We so hope you brought Mom's, Dad's, and neighbors for balloons and cake. Big Red, (Scotty Scott), provided the balloon flowers and animals. We do hope you enjoyed it. We hope you enjoyed Shannon's talk on exercise for seniors. We do have a doctor scheduled for speaking on diabetes and we were able to get Chris Proctor who was there at "Black Hawk Down" to speak. If you remember his wife Susie was the first woman in combat and her talk was well received last year. We only had a small showing of people for Dr. Quijada on mixing medicines. Your attendance is necessary for us to continue to have great speakers. They are doing this free of charge so we do need an audience! Mark your calendar the third Wednesday of each month for the Sunshine Program. Thanks! For those of you who have suffered a loss that we were unaware of, we send our love and sympathies to you and your family. May rays of sunshine help you heal. Until next month. Tidbit from Donna: March is colorectal cancer awareness month. Of cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the Nation. Colorectal cancer affects all racial and ethnic groups and is most often found in people age 50 and older. If all men and women age 50 and older were screened regularly, 6 out of 10 deaths from colorectal cancer could be prevented. Communities, health professionals, and families can work together to encourage people to get screened. Please fill out a "needs" Form at the Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who needs assistance. Also, if you have knowledge of a friend or neighbor who is living alone, please let them know of the Healthy Elder Life Program 888-983-5337. They will assist in many ways, including daily phone calls. Ray of Sunshine Quote: "I value the friend who for me finds time on his calendar, but I cherish the friend who for me does not consult his calendar." Robert Brault Pick up your Sunshine Information Brochure at the Lodge Front Desk. The brochure has complete information on the role of Sunshine in the Four Seasons community. Also, our bulletin board, in the Multipurpose Room, has current contact and resource information. Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at the Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who needs assistance.
