This will be the sixth year in a row that the City has hosted this race. The event is expected to attract hundreds of world class cyclists from across the country and the world. Volunteers are needed to serve as race marshals on the route. Marshals are responsible for keeping vehicles off the course, pedestrian control, and assisting residents in reaching their destinations. To be a race marshal, you must be at least 16 years of age and fill out a volunteer registration form. Race marshal training is provided by Redlands Bicycle Classic and law enforcement personnel. The event will consist of three separate races that will take riders throughout Beaumont and Cherry Valley. A special para- cycling race for disabled athletes will begin at 8:15 am and consist of a modified route. The men's race will begin at 9:45 am and consist of five laps. The women's race will begin at 9:55 am and consist of three laps. All of the races will start and finish at the Beaumont Civic Center, located at 550 E. 6th Street. During the race, there will be rolling road closures in which vehicles will be required to pull over when the riders are coming by and then will be allowed to go about their business. Due to safety and traffic concerns, several streets will be closed for the duration of the race. Detours will be in place for these roads. To sign up as a volunteer, please contact Greg or Marilyn Barker at (951) 845-7749 or email gm202@verizon.net.
