If the first falls on a Saturday or Sunday then sign-ups will begin on the following Monday. If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. WAITING LIST POLICY The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you! Join us for a presentation by Main Street Tours to learn more about two exciting trips that we have planned in 2014. The first trip is "Redwoods, Rails, and Wine" which takes place from June 29-July 3. Then, "Napa-Sonoma Wine Country" from November 16-19. The Getty Villa Wed., May 28, 9:30 am – 6 pm, $47 pp. This fun spring day begins with a drive to Santa Monica and then north along Pacific Coast Highway to the Getty Villa. The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Villa in Malibu serves as an international educational center dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. The Getty Villa houses the J. Paul Getty Museum's collection of approx. 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities. Over 1,200 works are on view in 23 galleries devoted to the permanent collection, with five additional galleries for changing exhibitions. With objects dating from 6,500 B.C. to 400 A.D., the collection contains monumental sculptures as well as artifacts of everyday life. Guests can enrich their visit by renting a Getty Guide audio player on arrival which features commentary from curators and conservators. Note: There is a nominal fee for the audio player rental. During your visit, you will have time for lunch on your own. The café serves casual Mediterranean inspired fare and has indoor and outdoor seating. Wine and beer are available. Come and learn about her intriguing history. This event will take place on Thurs., March 27 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. This event is free of charge. Just bring a friend and any questions you may have. MULROONEY "THE GOLF COMIC" Sat., March 15, 7 – 8 pm, Main Clubhouse Ballroom, doors open at 6 pm. Join us as we invite T.P. Mulrooney, "The Golf Comic" to Sun Lakes. T.P. began his stand up comedy career in the comedy clubs of Washington, D.C. and New York while still a journalism student at the University of Maryland. It didn't take long before Showtime, HBO, Comedy Central and The Golf Channel showcased his talents. Then, in the late 1980's, a new life experience transformed him and his art — GOLF. He was hooked. By the mid 90s his love of the game overtook T.P. and his comedy. T.P. has performed for audiences and charity golf events all over, including some of golf 's classics such as the Ryder Cup, The Masters and The Players Championship. T.P.'s motto... "To be funny about the game without making fun of the game." This event will be tabled seating. You can pick up your registration forms at the Main Clubhouse Reception Desk. Tickets are $10 each. Back by popular demand, Jack Jackson will be bringing his "Classic Country Show" to Sun Lakes! This show includes the music of today's Country music legends such as George Strait and Alan Jackson, along with yesteryear legends such as Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Buck Owens. Jack has a unique musical ability that captures the listening ear of country music fans everywhere. Jack's warm smooth vocals will melt your heart during a ballad, inspire your soul during an inspirational song, and set your feet to dancing with "the hot new country sounds" of today's country music market. Accompanying Jack there will be a Steel Guitar player and Fiddle player who will help feature some of the great instrumental classics.
