Sometimes change is good and I feel this change will be a good one. The Tuesday support group has merged with us. Our meetings will still be held on the third Thursday of each month, and the support group will join us. Our meetings begin at 10 am, we usually have a guest speaker. After the guest speaker, we will have our support group. Those of you who could not attend the support group because you could not leave your loved one alone and had no one to stay with them, will now be able to use our arts and craft room group. From 10 am to 12 pm we have loving volunteers who play games, take walks and entertain your loved one. Come to the meeting, stay for the support group and relax. If you have any questions about the arts and craft room, call me, Anne 845-8700. If you have any questions about the merging of these two groups call Shirley 845-2008 or Diane 769-0130. Our next meeting will be on Thurs., March 20 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker is attorney Dale K. Bithel from Redlands. His topic is elder law, in which he has 20 plus years of experience. This is a topic on which everyone should be well informed. If you haven't been to our meeting or support group save the date (March 20) and stop by to observe. We are here to help. If you have questions or would like to learn more about memory loss, we have reading materials we can share with you. Contact Shirley, 845-2008. Memory Care Group (Formerly Alzheimer's & Dementia Helpers) Continuing with our educational information (50 things) you should know about Alzheimer's disease, here are numbers 33, 34, 35 and 36. #33 The average length of Alzheimer's disease varies from three to over ten years. #34 Scientists are learning more about the disease all the time. #35 With more knowledge new treatments may become available and confusion are due to a disease may help a person cope with these often scary changes. We meet January through October, typically on the 2nd Wed. of the month, 11 am - 12:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Bus room. There are discussions on the latest findings and research, medications, nutrition, exercise, and coping skills brought to us by various speakers. Come to our group to learn and share your experience with others. Info., Gerri Piechowski, 769-2305. Parkinson's Support Yiddish Culture Club Welcome to the Hotel Sun Lakes located on South Country Club Drive in Somewhere, USA. This is a beautiful, luxurious property with all the amenities a vacationer or business traveler could desire. Your car will pass by one of the two prize winning golf courses complete with water features, ducks, rabbits, and the occasional golfer before you come to the two waterfalls that embrace the domed guardhouse at the main entrance. Here you will have to show the pass you received with your registration. The uniformed guards will give you directions to the main part of the hotel where you will check in and receive the keys to your vacation villa and the maps that will direct you to the tennis courts, swimming pools, barbecue areas, clubhouses, billiard rooms, and spa. The restaurants are in this main building as are the lounge/ballroom, art & crafts, library, meeting, and exercise rooms. The bar is also located here just before you enter the restaurant. We sincerely hope you will enjoy your time here and take advantage of all we have to offer. There will be charges if you order anything from the bar. There will also be charges for food service in the restaurants depending on if you have chosen the American or European plan for your stay with us. The entertainment in the small lounge near the restaurant is on Friday and Saturday nights and there is no charge. There may be charges for the entertainment in the large lounge/ballroom so check with the concierge if you desire to participate. We are sorry that our petting zoo is no longer in operation and our horses have been conscripted due to the war. The government has confiscated our boats for that reason as well and gasoline rationing has put a stop to our golf carts. However, check with the golf pro if you need a caddie. The date is 1940 and YOU ARE HERE! We are delighted to present (in the lounge/ballroom) "HE HAD IT COMING!" This original interactive comedic mystery melodrama, written and directed by Linda Vieira, stars a cast you will have to see to believe. The plot thickens with all the twists, turns and surprises. Secrets will be revealed! You will find yourselves involved, laughing, and mystified but never nodding off during this entertaining event. This event will take place on Wed., March 12, at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. All are welcome. We will be serving wine and "noshes" and there will be a charge of $5 pp for guests and $3 pp for members. Coffee and cake will also be available. Reservations are NOT necessary and you will not need passports to get in since this wonderful Hotel Sun Lakes is still in the USA. Info., Diane, 769-0130.
