Unfortunately we were not able to cast this play and had to cancel its production. In its place we are bringing in Catch A Star Theatrical Players production of "Roses in December," a play of letters as a young female official in a college alumni office invites a celebrated but reclusive author to the 35th reunion of his class. When he declines, she charmingly prods him, and thereby begins a witty and revelatory correspondence that becomes part mystery, part memory, and part romance. Written beautifully as a series of letters, this warm and satisfying work follows in the footsteps of A.R. Gurney's "Love Letters" and deserves to become just as enduringly popular. The author, Victor Cahn serves up something of a mystery along with the genuinely wise psychological insights that lie at the heart of Roses in December, keeping the audience riveted until the final words have been read. This play published by Samuel French and directed by Susan O'Connell stars Laura Negin as the young female official and Sheldon Craig as the reclusive author. This play is a full length dramatic comedy set in the present day. The play will be in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom on Thurs., April 3, Fri., April 4, Sat., April 5 at 7 pm and Sun., April 6, at 2 pm. We hope that the community will join us in welcoming this cooperative venture with Catch A Star Players. By recognizing and appreciating other dramatic ventures in the Pass Area we are convinced the whole community will benefit. Members continue to dine out once a month, joining one another in attending area theatrical productions, and participating in small skits at the monthly business meetings. You don't have to be experienced in theatre to enjoy the activities of the club membership. If you are interested we can teach you the fundamentals of stage lighting, sound production, and back stage work. Take that first step and call Rose Hermanson at 769-9810 or come to a meeting the first Thursday of each month at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Drama Club If you are reading this magazine and have somehow missed the news that the Mystery Theater's Blockbuster Extravaganza of excitement show, "That's Entertainment" is hitting our own Main Ballroom stage THIS weekend, don't worry. We have a remedy that will allow you to acquire tickets! We have taken the foresight to realize that with an active community such as our we have many residents that have just returned from a trip, and just now may be hearing about this show for the first time. Even when we are "sold out" for a particular performance (all eight tickets are sold for each of the 25 tables) we have 24 more tickets available for each night and can add three more tables! This show's run of this weekend's Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights 7 pm performances, plus Sunday's 3 pm matinée are still available, but you must act now. Please call Bill Shova at the number listed below and we will see that you have an opportunity to get in on all of the fun! For the cast, and all of the volunteers that are necessary to produce a show of this quality, we will be showing our gratitude by hosting a "Cast Party" at 5:30 pm on Fri., March 7, in the recreation room at the North Clubhouse. If you are a member of this group and have not arranged a reservation please contact Lou Evans ASAP! For the actors that will be creating the side-splitting roles for our upcoming comedy, "Sex Please, We're Sixty!" we will be starting rehearsals on Tuesday, March 4, immediately following our 1 pm Monthly Business Meeting in the Ballroom of the Main Clubhouse. For the community, please stay tuned for more information about this play and how you may acquire tickets for the performances that will hit our stage during the first week in June. Then too, if you are a new resident of our community and you feel that you might like to try your hand at any one of the activities that are involved in stage production, you are invited to join us at this business meeting and get acquainted with our group. We love new members, and we'll show you how to really get involved in an active retirement! For more information contact Bill Shova, 845-0547.
