Young at Heart Chorale It's not always easy to think about May in January but Chorale members had to get themselves into that mindset last January 20th for the first practice of the season. Members are always anxious to see exactly what program our Director Bob Jensen has planned. Over 100 members gathered to enthusiastically attempt a first run- down of eighteen songs. As always at first practice, we were ragged and will be for a few more Mondays. Then Bob's magic (think hard work) begins to smooth out some bumps until most 18 songs start to sound like music. In addition to Monday practices, each Thursday individual sections have their get- together for a concentrated practice with their leaders. Soprano - Dolores Crouter; 2nd Soprano - Lou Evans'; Alto - Dorie Little; Tenor, Baritone and Bass - Walt Bentley. As in any successful organization, many behind-the-scene members volunteer their time and expertise. Two of those who help create the performances the Chorale proudly present twice a year are Librarian, Toni Read and Assistant Librarian, Sandi Rushing. For each Chorale member they collate packets of music drawn from large storage units which contain hundreds of individual titles, to distribute at the beginning of each concert series. They also collect and return the printed music to storage at the conclusion of each concert. In addition, 10 volunteer chairpersons assume a variety of responsibilities. Don't miss our spring event, The Joy Of Music Concert, on Fri., May 2 and Sat., May 3 at 7 pm. There will be a matinée at 3 pm on Sun., May 4. May will be here before we know it! Mark your calendar today to save the dates. Ticket sale dates will be announced in the April issue of Lifestyles and on Ch. 97.
