The first delegate election – for districts with at least 50 percent of homeowners voting – will be held March 4. The second election - with a reduced quorum of 25 percent – will be held March 11. The candidates and their districts are: • Arbors 1 – Diana cook & niles sundstrom • Arbor 2 – noel myers, Pete Paladino, & lynette simonson • colonnade 1 – Barbara morgan • heritage 1 – lynn Gerlach & tanya Guy • heritage 2 – Doug smith & tina soeten • Keystone 1 – Judith Erickson • landmark 1 – loren stassart & JoAnne terrell • landmark 2 – Dale Beckes & Don Fant • laurel 1 – martha Franck & Judith rusche • laurel 2 – Brian Anderson and howard lyon • monarch 1 – Del lyles sr, & Dennis mallon • monarch 2 – no candidates applied • springdale 1 – Betty Ann James, Bill raphael & Patricia Warman The delegates act much like members of the electoral College in u.s. presidential elections – with a big difference. delegates from districts that fail to have a majority of households casting ballots in the Board election can vote the districts' total voting power as they see fit. it is important to select delegates carefully because of the real possibility one or two of them could decide an election. Ballots were mailed in February. each household has one vote. The candidate with the most votes becomes the delegate and the second place vote getter becomes alternate. The hoa Board appoints delegates in any district that has no applicants or that fails to meet the reduced quorum. The alternate acts only in the absence of the delegate. homeowners may cast their ballots in person the day of the elections, but they are encouraged to mail them in earlier so it can be determined if a quorum has been reached. once the delegates are selected, the Board election will begin. applications to run for the Board must be submitted by March 9. Ballots will then be mailed to homeowners. There will be a Meet the Candidates night for the Board on March 26. The ballots will be counted at a delegate's Meeting on april 22 and the delegates will cast them at the hoa annual Meeting on april 24. as in the delegate election, homeowners are permitted to turn in their ballots at the delegate Meeting, but are encouraged to mail them in earlier. Two of the three homeowner seats on the hoa Board are at stake: President Jacque sneddon and Treasurer Wayne staples' terms are expiring. Both have announced they plan to run for re-election. Vice-President Loren duChesne has another year of tenure. The new schedule is: • march 4: First District Delegate election. • march 11: reduced quorum delegate election. • march 9: Deadline to apply to run for the Board. Ballots mailed. • April 22: Ballots counted at Delegate meeting. • April 24: Annual meeting, delegates elect Board members. District ArEA By strEEt nAmE
