Doors open at 5:30 pm. "ALOHA!" Feel the cool, tropical breeze as it gently caresses your lovely face. No, you're not dreaming… you are at our wonderful luau dinner! Gwen Marlow Catering will be serving an "Aloha Feast" which will be Kailua Pork and Uncle Tui's sesame teriyaki chicken, steamed white rice, macaroni salad, fresh fruit, green salad and a special dessert… diet tomorrow! Our favorite entertainers, "The Radio Flyers," will be rockin' for our dancing, singing, hand clapping and feet stompin' delight. Sure to be a fun evening for all. All this for $13 pp! Guests are $15. If you live in Sun Lakes, you may come as a guest one time only, and then you must join the club for $10. Guests living outside of Sun Lakes are welcome at $15 pp. Due to the desirability of our club, we can only accommodate 99 people in the South Clubhouse for our dinner meetings, so your attendance will be on a first come first serve basis. Make checks payable to Social Singles and drop your checks to Betty McMillion, 5549 Pinehurst Dr., and 769- 6636. Those who want to sit together should put their checks in one envelope. If you have signed up for the dinner meeting and are unable to attend, PLEASE call Betty McMillion so she may give your reservation to someone on the wait list. You will receive your money back. EVENTS Barbara Willens, Events Coordinator, 769-0912, RSVP and make check payable to her, deliver to 5301 W. Pinehurst Dr. All Sun Lakes residents are welcome to the events. PLEASE NOTE: For information on the upcoming bus trips, please contact Dorothy Rowe, bus trip coordinator at 845-5570, or by e-mail, dotrowe@dc.rr.com At our Valentine Dinner Dance, beautiful Valentines were hung throughout the South Clubhouse and the dining tables were decorated with hot pink and red tablecloths while votive candles provided ambiance throughout the room. Participants enjoyed a catered dinner of chicken Cordon Bleu and danced to a romantic evening of love songs played by Skyline Express. It was a sold out evening with everyone having a most enjoyable night. Be sure and mark your calendar for these upcoming events: April 13: We are excited to tell you it's time for all you happy golfers to sign up for our Annual Golf Event. Lyn Ball will be your contact person, 769-3028. It's a 12:30 pm check in time, shotgun at 1 pm. It will be on the Executive Course and non- annual golf members must pay their golf fees to the Executive Pro shop at check in time. The cost for this event is $18 pp for golfers, dinner included, and $10 pp for non golfers, dinner only. Dinner will be served at 6 pm in the South Clubhouse. BYOB and glasses. Make checks payable to YAH and drop off at 5919 Sleepy Hollow as soon as possible as we will sell out quickly. Keep in mind we are limited to a total of 96 people at the South Clubhouse, no exceptions. May 4: Traditional Mexican fiesta party. This has always been a great night of fun. One of our favorite bands, Suave will be playing music from 6:30 until 9:30 pm. Our menu will be a delicious taco bar, including beans and rice. Good authentic Mexican food! The cost will be $15 pp. Your contact person will be Irene Eichel, 769-7078. You need to drop your checks off, made out to YAH, 1949 Riviera Ave., "ASAP!" BYOB and glasses. If you want to sit with your friends (eight to a table only) you must turn your checks in together. Doors will open at 5:30 pm at the South Clubhouse, dinner will be served at 6 pm. Once again we are limited to a total of 96 people, no exceptions, if you are interested in this event, get your checks in NOW. June 12: Back by popular demand, DUFFY BOAT RIDE. Those of you who didn't sign up last time won't want to miss it this time. Cost is $50 pp which includes bus ride, boat ride, and dinner at the Elks Club. Drinks at the Elks Club are on your own. For the Duffy boat ride, please bring your own wine, champagne or soft drinks, drinks will not be provided. Cheese, crackers and fruit will be provided when on the Duffy boats. We will leave Sun Lakes at 1:30 pm, boat ride from 4 to 6 pm, dinner at 6:30 pm and return by 9:30 pm. This is on a first come first serve basis, maximum 56, MEMBERS ONLY. Contact person is Bob Cain, 845-4720. Drop your checks, made out to YAH, to 588 Pine Valley Rd. WE ARE DARK IN JULY AND AUGUST. All of our events sell out quickly, so you need to get your checks to the "contact person" as soon as possible. MEMBERSHIP DUES FOR 2014 ARE DUE NOW IN ORDER FOR YOU TO ATTEND ANY OF OUR EVENTS. Young at Heart Chorale We are delighted to announce accompanist Kristin Chemistruck will once again be with us for the upcoming concert in May. We are so very fortunate to have such an accomplished pianist for the Chorale. Kristin studied music at the University of California at Redlands. She earned her Master's Degree in Religious Studies, with an emphasis in Ethnomusicology at UC Santa Barbara. She has accompanied choirs for over 10 years and is currently the pianist/organist for the United Methodist Church in Banning. Kristan and her husband Dan live in Palm Springs where they run their own photography studio business, Chemistruck Photography. Sing For Joy will be presented on Fri., May 2 at 7 pm; Sat., May 3 at 7 pm; Sunday Matinee, May 4 at 3 pm. Tickets go on sale weekdays in the Main Clubhouse Lobby on Mon., April 14 from 9 am to 3 pm. Adults $8, children under 12 are $4. Please join us for this special seasonal concert. **Please note: If you are interested in becoming a member of the Chorale of Sun Lakes contact Charlie at 769-0389. No audition is required - just bring along your commitment to be part of this outstanding group of singers dedicated to sharing the joy of singing with our families, friends, and neighbors. March 29: "Classic Country Then & Now," $10. This show includes the music of George Strait and Alan Jackson, along with yesterday's legends such as Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. Dinner in the dining room before the show at 5 pm. Tickets must be purchased at the Main Clubhouse Reception Desk and checks are to be made out to SL Rec. Department. Please contact Doris Harrison at 769- 3990 for your dinner reservations. April 4: "CAST PLAYERS PRESENTS: ROSES IN DECEMBER," $10. Main Clubhouse Ballroom. A witty play, part mystery, part memory and part romance. Make checks payable to SL Drama Club and drop them off at Joyce McRae's home, 755 Indian Wells Rd. no later than Sat., March 15.
