13 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2014 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2014 | 14 Facilities Committee Library Committee One long term project nearing its completion is the installation of much needed lighting along the sidewalk of Four Seasons Blvd. The solar option was determined to be the best option to light the dark areas and improve safety and security. Speaking of security, perimeter fencing is being considered to close off areas that are open to intruders. Quotes are being considered for chain link fencing to close off this area. The plan is to eliminate intruders as well as dirt bikes and ATVs from using our "backyards" as their playground. A new STOP sign is being installed on the Fire Lane as it meets Parnevik Drive. We have had a few near misses there, so please obey the new sign and stop before turning onto Parnevik. Bids have been received to install a new exhaust fan and ventilation ducting for the Salon to reduce some of the fumes that build up in there. While members of the committee do monthly inspections of our facilities, we encourage residents to inform us of spots that need attention. Stop by the front desk and give us your observations so that they may be addressed. Our goal is to continue to maintain The Four Seasons to the highest level possible. I just returned from a community celebration that had a clubhouse and library. Naturally the library was of interest to me and I checked it out. It was a very nice, well taken care of library. I returned to Four Season's and our awesome library! It is just so beautiful. This is your library. You are providing the books and we appreciate you. It takes a full committee to keep it looking good and we love it. I seldom recognize the committee by name but they really work hard. My committee is: Anne Baranek, Betty Barr, Blair Becker, Sue Corum, Betty Crase, Rosemary Luscombe, Kay Masonbrink, Cookie Scott, Char Weakley and Lis Woelke. You may see three different members in one day putting books away. We also have a Board Liaison, Greg Rockvam, who attends our meetings and provides guidance when needed. We are excited to have our pull out shelving in place. Both the committee and residents thank the BOD for approving the addition. The audiotapes and CDs in the bottom cabinet are borrowed all the time. It was really difficult to see what was housed in the shelves. The second shelf could not be seen without being on the floor and literally pulling them all out. There are many who cannot get up if they are on the floor. Now you may use the chair provided by the cabinet to make your selection. The children's movies and CDs received the other pull-out. We have been aware that 50 percent of our movies for our grandchildren are missing. Please check and see if you have a movie that you need to return. Thank you. Help us keep the library current. Please donate hardbound prolific authors from the year 2000 up. Our paperbacks are 2010-2014. The magazine rack holds three months of donated material. As of this writing please bring February, March, and April for us to display. Our non-fiction section is filled with biographies and a range of interesting topics. We now have some room on the bottom shelf for different topics normally not accepted. A travel section was started and we could use more books. Check them out in the lower shelves. We never accept technical books and actually the downtown library doesn't accept them either. Most of us working on the committee are avid readers. This month Kay Masonbrink writes, "At 90+ years old, P.D. James is considered one of the greatest living British mystery writers. In her book Death Comes to Pemberley, she surprised the literature world when she created her mystery as a sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. And she did this in pure Austen-style. The story is set in 1803, six years after Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet were married and residing at Darcy's Pemberley estate. Most of the characters in the book are continuations from Austin's original so readers will easily recognize names such as Darcy, Elizabeth, the wild sister Lydia and her worthless husband Wickham, the odious Lady Catherine de Bourgh, etc. Of course, with all good mysteries come murder, so the plot revolves around determining "who- done-it." James takes us through the 19th century investigation, the inquest and the trial until the crime is solved. Jane Austen fans for sure will love this book and I think readers of old English crime stories will appreciate the plot twists and the historical aspects as well." Yes, perimeter fencing has been recommended to the Facilities Committee and they in-turn are in agreement. Next steps are the finance committee and on to the Board for their consideration. When this project is finally completed it will benefit our entire community, not just those properties adjacent to the problem area. This projection is based on the current necessity to place more concentrated patrol resources in the Lopez/Stephenson areas. With the likelihood of perimeter attention G4S patrolling will return to more balanced duties throughout the community. Incidentally, a gate was installed at the end of Lopez Way. The 10 foot wide swing gate is designed to allow Roving Patrol easy access to the immediate area, just outside our current residential fencing. Again, the benefit is to allow Roving Patrol access to our problem area and the pursuit of violators on our property. Access Control Committee So far we have had 41 households respond to last month's request for Emergency Information forms. If you haven't already done so, please complete yours as soon as possible as we don't know when a major event may occur! If you still don't have last month's newsletter, there are forms in the Lodge Lobby that you can turn in to the desk. Again, we invite anyone interested in contributing to the emergency preparedness of our community, please attend our meetings on the fourth Monday of the month, in the Ballroom. Again, we offer our most sincere thanks to all of you who respond to this request for information!
