5 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2014 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2014 | 6 The Annual Membership Meeting is April 23: The Annual Meeting will be held to elect four Directors. As in years past, there are two meeting times; 11 am and 1 pm. The 11:30 am meeting time will allow the Inspector of Election and representatives to open the meeting, establish a quorum, call for nominations from the floor and "close the polls." The meeting will then be adjourned to allow the Nominations Committee and their helpers time to tabulate the votes. You are welcome to come early, but we always like to let you know the difference between the two times in case you have other commitments. The Annual Meeting will re-convene at 1 pm, the "official" start time. If you received a ballot and haven't submitted it, please do so by 11 am that day so it can be included in the count! We appreciate everyone's participation in this important event. I've received a few calls regarding vehicles parked in driveways. If you or your guest park in the driveway, please make sure your vehicle is not blocking the sidewalk. We have a lot of residents who walk our sidewalks and we don't want anyone hurt trying to go around the vehicle. In addition, if you have guests to your home, please have them park in front of your home first. Try to minimize guests parking in front of your neighbor's homes. Remember to be considerate of your neighbors. I would like to wish everyone a peaceful and Happy Easter on April 20. May you enjoy the blessings of this day with family and friends. Out & About World Renowned Max DeMoss Sculptures on Display and Art from the Heart: Diamond Valley Arts Council Teams Up with Valley Restart Shelter in fund raiser for the Homeless Max DeMoss (pictured left), internationally-known sculptor, is the headline artist in the art show at the Esplanade Arts Center gallery. The show, which runs from March 28 to May 3, provides the opportunity to see the work of a world class artist who resides in the San Jacinto Valley. DeMoss has been a sculptor for 50 years. His work continues to receive high praise and is found in many fine art collections and churches. He taught sculpture for 33 years at Mt. San Jacinto College. He is busier than ever now at his studio and foundry in the middle of an orange grove east of Hemet. The sculptures are produced over a six week cycle. The demand for his work is never-ending. Although his pieces include a variety of subjects, he's currently focused on a series of platters and horses. There is continuity in his artistic themes. "There is a thread," DeMoss says. "I'm trying to follow the progression of my own work." When he accepts a commission from a client, he considers the process a collaboration and enjoyable in its own right. What motivates him after 50 years of producing fine sculpture? "There is integrity in the work," DeMoss declares. "I'm dedicated to the medium." The Art from the Heart annual event, a fund raiser for Valley Restart Shelter which provides refuge for the homeless, is also scheduled for March 28 through May 3. The fine art gallery show, with works in all media donated by artists in the San Jacinto Valley in support of the Valley Restart Shelter and the Arts Council, precedes an evening of merriment on May 3. The Art from the Heart evening benefit, which includes food and wine- tasting, an auction of the displayed art and live entertainment, will take place at the Esplanade Arts Center. The Esplanade Arts Center is located at 2181 W. Esplanade Ave (at Sanderson) in San Jacinto. The art gallery show runs from March 28 until May 3. The viewing times are Fridays 2 to 7 pm, Saturdays and Sundays, 11 am to 2 pm. The Art from the Heart benefit event will take place Saturday May 3 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Esplanade Arts Center. Ticket donations are $20. For information and tickets, contact Valley Restart Shelter at (951) 766-7476. The website is www. valleyrestart.org. EsplanadE arts Hosts two EvEnts
