Amy and Devon from Fit Express filled in and spoke about exercises for seniors. They were awesome. Devon did all the talking and Amy did all the exercises! Boy, is she toned. We do appreciate them, and our attendance was great. Thank you. There was a clown in the audience watching our program! "Big Red" was there to start the 2014 nonagenarians birthday party. Donna Holland helped Big Red do some magic to get the party started. Our clown went to each person being celebrated and made different kinds of balloon animals, flowers and a couple of birthday hats. Smiles were abundant! There was a beautiful birthday cake and other sweets enjoyed by all that was provided by the Sunshine Club. At the conclusion we were able to take some pictures (below). We proudly welcomed Norm Callju (91), Alla Cline (91), Helen Enos (97), Les Gadau (94), Terry Hughes (94), LaVera Lane (92), Bob McCabe (94), Jane Pearce (92), Richard Busch (90's), Bob Mack (94) and James Yacobucci (91). What a good looking and happy group! We'll see everyone next year. I want to thank Four Season's resident, Carol Ferber, for her recommending a speaker for our monthly programs. I am definitely calling her contact. We still have one more month open. Carol just left an envelope at the desk with my name on it. Please feel free to follow suit. We are saddened to report that Marlene Arnold passed away in February. Her loving husband, Mason, held a service in Seal Beach in early March. We will be offering to host a celebration of life at Four Seasons to honor Marlene. Our sympathies and love go out to Mason and her family. We are also saddened to report that Diane Corte lost her beautiful mother, Madalyn Humphrey, in February. Following a service in Riverside, a Celebration of Life was held at Diane's home. It was a love-filled afternoon that overflowed with friends to honor Madalyn. The Sunshine Team sends our thanks for the donation from Diane in honor of her mother. Trish Eagan has sent many cards this past month. All those suffering health problems are in our prayers and sent good wishes. I have a three-woman team, Anne Balensiefer, Priscilla Hieber, and Fabian Yaeger that make calls to see how those with health problems are. They love doing their job. I am very proud of all the women of our Sunshine Management Team. I do hope everyone enjoyed Dr. Giannelli speaking about diabetes. It's a problem for so many of us. Please remember that our programs offer an opportunity to ask questions of a doctor. We have the doctor an hour not the usual allotted 15 minutes! For those of you who have suffered a loss that we were unaware of, we send our love and sympathies to you and your family. May rays of sunshine help you heal. TIDBIT from Donna: "If you want to do something nice for a friend, ask them for help when you need it. They will feel so good knowing that you trusted them to ask for their help.
