32 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2014 | CLUBS & GROUPS CLUBS & GROUPS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2014 33 Happy April, Four Seasoners! Well, what did you think of the murder we had in the community a few days ago? Now, don't get upset and don't go running for your phones… I'm talking about the one in "The Anniversary." The extremely successful two night run of our Murder Mystery Dinner Theater! If you enjoy this type of entertainment please let us know so we can continue to offer this type of event to you again. Next on our agenda is a night filled with fun, thought, fun, drinking, fun, eating, fun, and more fun! Get a pen, it's on Friday, April 11 at 6 pm Circle it on your calendars. Why? It's FREE and it's Trivia and General Knowledge Night. Topics will include: history, geography, TV, movies, music, literature, sports, science, the arts, as well as weird and unusual facts. Colin Taylor will be our esteemed emcee, and assures me that everyone will know some of the answers but nobody will know all of the answers, no matter what the bribe! So bring some booze, eat your dinner, just remember to have fun. Rounding out April, will be our much anticipated PG 55+ Comedy Show, for audiences 18 years and older. We do not use "bleach" on this performance. In other words, it is not our cleanest! If your preference is clean humor, this event is probably not for you. However, if you get and pass on risqué joke cartoons and e-mails this is an evening not to be missed. In closing, is another bid to my neighbors… please think about getting involved in this group. It is beyond fun. There is another Radio Show coming up in several months and we are always looking for new people to do the voices. You don't need to memorize the words you just read them as if you were saying them! Please go the Front Desk at the Lodge and ask for the Radio Show SIGN UP Sheet. Put down your name and contact information. You will be contacted by someone on the committee. ~ Teri Meyers-Kelman Counter Culture Cinema Classical Music Club We are classical music lovers with an interest in sharing our love, knowledge, and interest in classical music. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7 pm in the Conference Room. There we discuss current music performances. Most of the time is devoted to exploring a selection for the month. We welcome new members. Contact Steve Bennoff at steve.benoff@verizon.net or (310) 413-4896. ~ Steve Benoff We are back! Our first rehearsal is Monday, April 7. We meet in the Lodge Ballroom near the piano. We meet on Monday afternoons, from 3 to 5 pm. We'll be passing out music and starting rehearsals for our part in the July 4th event. At our first rehearsal we will also have a guest speaker who will speak to us about the benefits of singing and music. If you are one of those singers who has been thinking about joining the choir, please come to our first rehearsal. Or, you can contact Barbara Wasco (951) 797-3466 or email at bawasco@dc.rr.com. ~ Barbara Wasco Four Season Singers Our first April screening, on Sunday, April 13 at 6 pm, is the film Inequality for All (USA 2013, 89 minutes). Here is a brief description from Amazon.com: "A passionate argument on behalf of the middle class. Inequality for All features Robert Reich–professor, best-selling author, and Clinton cabinet member–as he demonstrates how the widening income gap has a devastating impact on the American economy. The film is an intimate portrait of a man whose lifelong goal remains protecting those who are unable to protect themselves. Through his singular perspective, Reich explains how the massive consolidation of wealth by a few threatens the viability of the American workforce and the foundation of democracy itself. In this inconvenient truth for the economy, Reich uses humor and a wide array of facts to explain how the issue of economic inequality affects each and every one of us." Our second April screening, on Sunday, April 27 at 6 pm, is the film "Kill Your Darlings" (USA 2013, 104 minutes). Here is a brief description from IMDB.com: "In the early 1940s, Alan Ginsberg is an English major in Columbia University, only to learn more than he bargained for. Dissatisfied by the orthodox attitudes of the school, Alan finds himself drawn to iconoclastic colleagues like Lucien Carr, William S. Burroughs and Jack Kerouac. Together, this gang would explore bold new literary ideas that would challenge the sensibilities of their time as the future Beat Generation. However, for all their creativity, their very appetites and choices lead to more serious transgressions that would mark their lives forever." The Lodge Theatre has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early. We hope to see you there! Coming in May: "Wish You Were Here" and "In A World." Please note that all films announced are subject to availability. If you have any questions about the Counter Culture Cinema Club or want to recommend a film, please e-mail Micki Rosen at michelesrosen@gmail.com. ~ Micki Rosen Performing Arts Club
