By Cindy Graves Thanks to Drew Rodriguez, owner of the Arthur Murray Studio in Redlands, we had an hour and a half of straight dance exhibition, showcasing a variety of dances from Rhumba to Paso Roble, East Coast Hustle, Tango, Country, and many others; all of which held the audience attention for the entire time. The costumes were also varied and beautiful and added the extra bling to really make the show sparkly. A fun addition to the show itself was the audience participation portion of the event. Many individuals either went up to dance voluntarily or like me, were grabbed by Drew or one of the other dancers for a quick try on the Ballroom floor. It was a lot of fun, albeit a bit intimidating. One of the biggest surprises of the evening was our very own BOD President, Jacque Sneddon, being twirled and swirled across the floor in several dance numbers. Everyone who saw the show raved about her grace and elegance and went on about the butterfly transformation from controlled decorum laden Association leader to light as a feather, Dancing Queen. It was a treat to behold and one people will be talking about for months to come. COMMUNItY NEwS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2014 9 Neighborly Notes By Bobbie Eckel April is another busy month. We start with April Fools' jokes (Did anyone find the 10 foot python which escaped from a resident's snake tank?), proceed to District Delegate and Board Elections (those topics are not intended to be "related" to the first), enjoy and learn from the E.P.P. Expo, find out what is "Ballroom Trivia Night," showcase our talents with Karaoke, laugh at the acts and antics of the PAC/PG 55 Show and finish with the HOA Garage/Lodge Sale (I just like the alliteration!) which will replenish our wallets and clean out our closets. It almost makes you tired just thinking about all that activity! Do remember that we are also voting this month for the two seats available on the Board of Directors. Ballots will have been mailed in March and will be counted at the Delegate Meeting on April 22. The results of the balloting will be announced at the Annual Meeting on April 24. We all need to be a part of this community. Please participate fully in the process. If you attended the General Session of the BOD on Feb. 13, you would have heard the announcement that Lisa Lynn has resigned as General Manager and will be replaced by Jeri Mupo who has worked for years with Euclid Management. You would also have learned that the 2014 Holiday Hours for the Lodge contain many of the changes that residents have requested. Hours for holiday "eves" have been extended; the Lodge will even be open on Thanksgiving morning. Watch for the full slate of hours in The Breeze. At that BOD General Session, the Planning Officer for Beaumont addressed the audience. She noted that on the first Wednesday of every month at the Civic Center from 6 pm to 7 pm, the City of Beaumont holds a Beaumont Cares Awareness Team (BCAT) with representatives from each of the departments in the city of Beaumont. Residents are urged to attend these meetings if they have concerns or questions: another example that "Beaumont Cares." Mark your calendars: The pool will be heated by the weekend of April 20, Easter Sunday. Plan to have your family come and enjoy. And bring lots of warm towels if the weather changes! Water Aerobics in the heated pool will be offered in two sessions, May through July and August through October. Payment of $75 for the first session is due by April 30. Class begins May 5. Softball buffs, it's time to join the Valley-wide Senior Softball League. The League plays out of Valley Wide Recreation Center in San Jacinto. All levels of play are involved; interested players must be age 55 or older. Summer and winter seasons are scheduled. The cost is only $30 a season. You play at least 40 games each season. Game Days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practice is on Wednesdays and Fridays, 7:30 am to 9:30 am. Modified ASA rules are utilized. Players interested in playing during the Summer Season must sign up no later than May. Please call (951) 927-4509 for additional information or to sign up to play. The 30th Redlands Bicycle Classic will be held April 3-6 this year. The Classic is a four-day stage race which winds its way through Redlands, Beaumont and, as of last year, includes a venue in Big Bear. Riding events in Beaumont will be on Friday, April 4. Three separate races will start and finish at the Beaumont Civic Center. Be on the alert for temporary road closures to accommodate the cyclists. The Classic opens the USA Cycling National Racing Calendar. For more information on the race, visit www.ci.beaumont.ca.us/bike race. Conundrums from Maxine: If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, then doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked and dry cleaners depressed? Thank you all for the warm welcome! Than you to all of the homeowners, vendors, and staff members for making me feel so welcome! I know it is hard to believe, but it has already been 30 days since coming to our community. I look forward to a long future at the Four Seasons community and invite everyone to come by and say hello! 8 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2014 | COMMUNItY NEwS Manager's Update By Jeri Mupo, General Manager hEArinG imPAirED rEminDEr: For those residents who could use a little "assist" hearing the meetings in the Ballroom, please remember that we have hearing impaired equipment (headphones) that can be checked out at the Lodge desk for your listening pleasure.
