New doors have been installed between the kitchen and the Ballroom to eliminate noise coming from the kitchen. Other kitchen repairs and modifications are progressing on schedule. The next meeting is April 22, at 11 am in the Lodge Conference Room. All homeowners are invited to attend. ~ William Taylor Bistro Committee I have been concerned about safety at home in Four Seasons at Beaumont. We have not experienced many burglaries, but some level of personal safety should be explored to prevent a burglary or at least limit it. Ask yourself: If I am locked out of my home, can I still get in? Maybe I can get in my home through an unlocked window in the back, or using a hidden key? Remember: if you can break in, so can a burglar. A small investment of time and money can make your home more secure and can reduce your chances of being a victim of burglary, assault, or vandalism. Get to know your neighbors. Basic Rules: • Make sure that all windows are locked. • Use the locks you have. Always lock up your home when you go out, even if it's only for a few minutes. • Secure sliding glass doors with commercially available bars or locks, or put a wooden dowel or broomstick in the door track. • Make sure all porches and other possible entrances are well lighted. • Trim any bushes or trees that hide doors or windows. • Keep garage doors closed and locked when not in use. • Don't hide your house keys under the door mat or in a flower pot. Try a trusted neighbor. • Ask a trusted neighbor to collect your mail and newspapers, and offer to return the favor. • Leave word about when you're leaving, when you'll return, and how you can be reached in an emergency. • Put automatic timers on at least two lights (and possibly a radio) to help your home look and sound lived in. • Put a hold on mail and newspaper delivery. It has been my experience that burglars do not overtax themselves in finding ways to get into the home. Therefore limit their reasoning abilities, be smarter and safer than they. ~ Dennis Gray Safety & Facilities this Expo, presented by the Emergency Preparedness Program, is saturday, April 5 from 10 am to 2 pm in the Ballroom.
