Incumbents Jacque Sneddon and Wayne Staples are running for re-election and Barbara Kwiatkowska-Amerton is seeking to join the Board. The two top vote getters will be elected. Sneddon is Board president and Staples treasurer. Both are Board veterans with three terms behind them. Kwiatkowska-Amerton is a retired music teacher with a PhD in ethnomusicology. She ran unsuccessfully for the Board last year against Board Vice President and Secretary Loren DuChesne. DuChesne has a year left on his term. Ballots have been mailed to residents and will be counted at the annual District Delegate Meeting on April 22. The actual election takes place on April 24 at the HOA annual meeting when the delegates cast their votes. The delegates act much like members of the Electoral College in U.S. presidential elections – with a big difference. Delegates from districts that fail to have a majority of households cast ballots can vote the districts' total voting power as they see fit. In districts where a majority is reached, the delegate must cast the voting power of the district in the same proportion as the votes cast. It is important for a majority of homeowners to vote so that, in a contested election like this one, the result is not decided by one or two delegates. The delegates and their districts are: Arbors 1 – Delegate Niles Sundstrom, Alternate Diana Cook Arbor 2 – Delegate Noel Myers, Alternate Lynette Simonson Colonnade 1 – Delegate Barbara Morgan, no alternate Heritage 1 – Delegate Lynn Gerlach, Alternate Tanya Guy Heritage 2 –Delegate Tina Soeten, Alternate Doug Smith Keystone 1 – Delegate Judith Erickson, no alternate Landmark 1 – Delegate Loren Stassart, Alternate JoAnne Terrell Landmark 2 – Delegate Don Fan, Alternate Dale Beckes Laurel 1 – Delegate Judith Rusche, Alternate Martha Franck Laurel 2 – Delegate Brian Anderson, Alternate Howard Lyon Monarch 1 – Delegate Del Lyles Sr., Alternate Dennis Mallon Monarch 2 – No Candidates applied. Board will appoint delegate in April. Springdale 1 – Delegate Betty Ann James, Alternate Bill Raphael The alternate acts only in the absence of the delegate. Homeowners may cast their ballots in person at the District Delegate Meeting at the time set aside for their district (see chart at upper right), but they are encouraged to mail them in earlier so it can be determined if a quorum has been reached. Four members of the seven-member Board are appointed by builder K. Hovnanian Homes. That will continue until build-out of Four Seasons when all members will be elected from the community. The schedule is: April 22, Ballots counted at Delegate Meeting. April 24, Annual Meeting, delegates elect Board members. District ArEA By strEEt nAmE Following are the times for district residents to cast last-minute votes during the District Delegate Meeting on April 22 for 2014 HOA Board candidates.
