30 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2014 | CLUBS & GROUPS CLUBS & GROUPS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2014 31 We had a busy start to March. Despite the rain, a group Beaumont dancers traveled to Palomares Senior Center in Pomona, to share the 10th Anniversary Celebration with Harriette Coggs-Stuckey, founder of Heart and Soul Line Dance. Dancers from all corners of the Inland Empire, Los Angeles County, San Diego County, and Northern California came, and we danced! We continued our celebrating at our very own Four Seasons Mardi Gras dinner/dance. We had an amazing time. It was great to see so many people out on the dance floor. It is awesome how dance is an infectious activity. Anyone who ever says that "seniors don't know how to party" has never seen Four Seasons homeowners in action! Welcome new dancers, and many thanks to the regulars. New dances are taught at the beginning of ever month and we spend the entire month learning them. We break down all the steps for you and you will always find seasoned dancers who will take you under their wings and help you out. They are an outstanding group of people, and I truly appreciate every single one. Our class schedule: Wednesday: 4 to 5:15 pm, Beginners; 5:20 to 6 pm, Intermediate. We encourage anyone who wants to stay for the intermediate session to stay and participate. As always, "See you on the dance floor!" ~ Priscilla Robles Heart & Soul Line Dance Our Valentine's Dance Party was loads of fun. We had plenty of good food, and Christopher Landry and his band Shine entertained us with a wide variety of dance music. We even did a Western barn dance, which was a barrel of laughs. We'd like to thank those who worked diligently to make the evening a success. Terry Fears created a magnificent floral arrangement at the front mirror area. Susie Gorgei was a great emcee. And many more helped with the set up and decorations. Our club sponsors only four of these parties per year, and the number of seats are limited. This last event was a sell-out, so keep that in mind next time. On May 17, we will have a Spring Fling Dinner Dance Party. Price will be $20 per person and tickets go on sale April 7. The Skyline Xpress band will entertain us with music appealing to many different dance styles. Dinner will include green salad, Hawaiian chicken and pork roast, mixed vegetables, potatoes au gratin, a vegetarian option, carrot cake dessert and beverages. You are always welcome to visit us on Monday evenings for lessons by our professional dance instructors. Our objective is quite simple – learn many different styles of dances so we can have fun dancing. We start with the beginning steps and build on the basics. For additional fun, we go out dancing to places like Hemet, Loma Linda and Palm Springs. ~ Willis Fagan Ballroom Dance Club Line Dancing Did you hear? There is going to be a hoedown here this summer! You still have time to learn a few simple dances. Each time there is a dance, I notice some people standing off to the side trying to figure out the steps. There is an easier way… come to class. We always welcome those who want to start learning to dance to country music. We take the time to teach you one step at a time in the beginner's class and use easier dances to get you started. The most common dance, the Electric Slide has only 18 steps; a dance that is done at every country dance function everywhere. Stop standing on the sidelines, join us and learn. You will be surprised how easy it is. The laughter, the fun, the exercise and the friendships are a bonus and make it well worth your while. Beginners Class is at 3 pm on Tuesdays in the Lodge Ballroom, advanced class follows at 3:45 pm. Classes are free; however, we collect a $1 voluntary donation which goes to the Performing Arts Club. Hope to see you at the next class. Info., (951) 769-3889. ~ Martha Franck William Eng is a 12-year-old boy raised in an orphanage in Depression-era Seattle. When he sees the actress Willow Frost in a movie, he becomes convinced she is his mother, and he and a friend escape the orphanage to seek her out. Shifting between the Great Depression and the 1920s, Songs of Willow Frost explores the mysteries of William's past and the complicated story of the exotic film star. Please join us at 9:30 am on April 8 when Patty Jordan will lead the discussion of Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford. For more information, telephone Doreen Sanders at (951) 769-1913. ~ Doreen Sanders Book Club This month we want to mention to potential students of the Spanish Bible class, how the main theme will develop during future classes. The main theme is "What Does the Bible really TEACH?" and very interesting and important questions will be answered. For example, "What's the truth about God? Why do we grow old and eventually die? Why does God allow all the suffering which gets worse everyday? How will Armageddon affect us?" These questions and many more will be answered by the scriptures we will study. Do you have any questions of your own, that you want the Bible to answer for you? Then join us every Tuesday at 7 pm. For more information you can call Tim at (951) 769-4238. ~ Timoteo Lovato Spanish Bible Class Top Left: Lots of dancing at our Valentine's Party Above: Entertainment for our Spring Fling in May, Skyline Xpress Bottom Left: Good food and easy conversation
