44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2014 | SPORtS & OUtDOOR ACtIVItIES FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2014 45 We continue to enjoy Southern California motorcycling while some regions of the country are frozen. How lucky are we? Last month our weekly rides included a trip around the Salton Sea and a ride through Joshua Tree National Park. Both are just beautiful at this time of year. Two of our members have purchased new bikes. Dan Lanphere has a new Triumph Trophy and Howard Lyon has a new BMW RT. They are busy getting some "break in" mileage in preparation for a five night trip in March. We welcomed another new member, Mark Lassen, just in time for some spring-time riding. Join our monthly meetings at 6 pm on the first Wednesday of the month in the Lodge Ballroom. ~ Howard Lyon Motorcycle Club If you are interested in off-roading and enjoying beautiful scenery you won't see from the highway come to our meeting the second Tuesday of the month at 7 pm in the Ballroom. We look forward to sharing our adventures with you and welcome you to join in on the fun. ~ Ann Williams 4x4 Seasons We are a golf group of guys who meet and attempt our best to get round little balls to go into holes on Friday mornings. Larry Zimmerman arranges where and at what time we will do this and can let you know by e-mail for those who get on his e-mail list. To join in you simply need to reply and let him know you are wishing to attend. Larry's e-mail is below. Golf tip of the month is from Tom Watson from a recent Golf Digest. It relates to his recommendation for help with chipping: He stresses that the lower body has to be active, just like it is during a full swing. Your knees and hips have to turn a little bit. Your legs can't be stuck in concrete. To help get your lower body involved, start with your left foot and hip slightly open, your weight on your left foot, and your right knee leaning toward the ball. When you swing, kick in your right knee even more. This will help keep your body active and you'll hit down on the ball to produce a quality chip shot. To join us on Fridays, contact Larry by Wednesday at zzman1028@yahoo.com or (909) 553-2798. Feel free to call me at (951) 797-3563 or tjacobson@dc.rr.com. ~ Tim Jacobson Golfing for Fun
