Doors open at 5:30 pm. We're all Latino on May 5 (don't panic - the meeting is May 9). La Casita, that wonderful Mexican restaurant, will provide us with a delicious dinner of beef and chicken tacos, cheese enchiladas, chili relleño, rice, beans and flan for dessert. Sun Lakes' Singing Caballero, Ed Avina, will be singing Latin songs and the wonderful standards we all love and as a special treat, the International Dancers will perform! All this for $13 pp. Guests are $15. If you live in Sun Lakes, you may come as a guest one time only, and then you must join the club for $10. Guests living outside of Sun Lakes are welcome at $15 pp. Due to the desirability of our club, we can only accommodate 99 people in the South Clubhouse for our dinner meetings, so your attendance will be on a first come first serve basis. Make checks payable to Social Singles and drop your checks to Betty McMillion, 5549 Pinehurst Dr., 769-6636. Those that want to sit together should put their checks in one envelope. If you have signed up for the dinner meeting and are unable to attend, PLEASE call Betty McMillion so she may give your reservation to someone on the wait list. You will receive your money back. This has always been a great night of fun, one of our favorite bands, Suave will be playing music from 6:30 until 9:30 pm. Our menu will be a delicious Taco Bar, including beans and rice! If you want to sit with your friends (eight to a table only) you must turn your checks in together. Doors will open at 5:30 pm at the South Clubhouse, dinner will be served at 6 pm. Once again we are limited to a total of 96 people, no exceptions. If you are interested in this event, get your checks in now. JUNE 12: Duffy Boat Ride, back by popular demand! Those of you who didn't sign up last time won't want to miss it this time. Cost is $50 pp that includes bus ride, boat ride, and dinner at the Elks Club. Drinks at the Elks Club are on your own. For the Duffy Boat Ride, please bring your own wine, champagne or soft drinks. Drinks will not be provided. Cheese, crackers and fruit will be provided when on the Duffy boats. There will be eight people to a boat. We will leave Sun Lakes at 1:30 pm; boat ride at 4 to 6 pm; dinner at 6:30 pm and return by 9:30 pm. Over 100 Chorale voices are ready to help you welcome this joyous season with a concert of music aptly titled Sing For Joy. The program is full of glee and rejoicing — you will leave in high spirits with a smile on your face… no finer way to welcome spring. Concert dates are Fri., May 2 and Sat., May 3 at 7 pm and Sunday matinée on May 4 at 3 pm. Tickets will be sold in the Main Clubhouse Lobby weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12. Last minute tickets will be sold at the door. May 2: Chorale Presents "Sing For Joy," $8 pp. The Spring Concert is ALWAYS a favorite. The early 20s are a time of flappers, sharks, movers and shakers and Millie longs to experience it all. The antics will have you rolling in the aisle wanting more. Dinner after the show at Billie Reed's. May 11: "Mother's Day Pot Luck At Barb's," 12 pm. Bring your favorite dish and be with your friends if you can't be with your kids. House is small… so maximum of 15. May 14: "Let's Go To The Movies," movie and lunch to be decided on at a later date. May 17: "Mt. San Jacinto College Jazz Festival," $10. Leave at 1:30 pm. The Roots of Jazz… the program is an entertaining exploration of America's unique musical contribution. Blues, Dixieland and everything in between. Dinner after at Applebee's. May 20: "Movie, South Clubhouse, 'The Butler'" $2. 2:30 pm. Moving story of a White House Butler who serves eight American presidents over three decades. Based on a true story. Starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey. Popcorn, donut holes and coffee. May 25: "Heidi," $18 or less. Leave at 1:30 pm. Step into the cherished story of the charming Swiss girl who brings new life and hope to those around her. Dinner after at Spaghetti Factory. May 30: "Mystery Theater Presents, 'Sex Please, We're Sixty' (how 'bout, "we're 80?") $8. This is an adult comedy with side- splitting laughter.
