"The old way to get fit is new again," states a recent article in the Press Enterprise, referring to walking. The article continues, "Here's why walking for exercise is so ideal: • Walking is what your body is designed to do. • Among all forms of aerobic exercise, walking carries the least risk of injury. • You can walk almost anywhere, any time. • Nearly everyone can walk and it's something you can do throughout your life. • It's free. • There's no special skill, training, or equipment needed – all you need is the right footwear." Walking is what we do. The class consists of six different Leslie Sansone "Walk Fit" DVDs. The easy-to- follow routines are set to music with varied tempo. No memorization of routines is required. Three of the DVDs incorporate resistance bands. Tailor the class to your own needs. The full one hour class is a four mile walk. Leave early or arrive later to shorten your walk. If you can't make it three days a week, that's okay too. Men and women are welcome. We are free! Join us Mon., Wed. and Fri. from 7:45 to 8:45 am in the Lodge Ballroom. For more information contact Karen Tuvim at (951) 599- 4236 or Kay Masonbrink at (951) 223-3047. "Walk-Fit" Exercise Club This month we are giving you an exercise to do at home! Wall Push Ups: Face a wall, standing at arm's length away. Extend your arms in front of you. Your feet should be shoulder- width apart. Bend elbows to lower chest toward wall, coming as close as you can, without touching it. Straighten arms and return to starting position. Repeat 10-15 times, resting as needed. The SASY routine encompasses twelve chair exercises to strengthen arms, legs, and torso. All are very simple. Attendees are encouraged to do only what is comfortable for them. We tell it like it is… SASY is a lot of fun and very social. We think this is why it works. Jump into strength training — we look forward to seeing you. Join us every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. If you have questions regarding this class, please call Jeanne Lincoln at 765-7112, Char Weakley at 926-2599, or Joyce Kerns at 325-8840.
