We have been invited to play once again on the third Friday after TGIF. We are looking forward to our beautiful, warm evenings and hope to play outside by the fireplace. We have been working on some new songs and having a great time! This month, our club says "farewell" to Bill and Anita Thompson. They have decided to return to Northern California where they have a home and family. Bill has been instrumental (no pun intended) in bringing new songs to the Guitar Club. Anita has also been part of our club, as a some-time guitar player and some-time singer (still a working gal!). They have been a wonderful addition for the past 1-1/2 years, have brought dozens of new songs, and shared instruction on chords. Bill is a natural leader, exemplary teacher, and friend to all of us. You will be so missed! We wish you only the best for your future and hope you will drop us a line or even come back to Four Seasons for a visit (bring your guitars!) – you've always got a place here! Thank you Bill, thank you, Anita! Other members are: Russ Brown, Hank Callaghan, Al Chaney, Hal Clark, Lois Cowan, Cynthia Ellingworth, Orville Ellingworth, Bob Hagen (leader), Jerry "Hawk" Hawkins, Sandy Iannotti, Gary Lewis, Mike Murphy, Linda Negrete, and Bud Piraino. We meet on Fridays from 11 am to 12:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room. Cynthia Ellingworth is the contact at cynthia0430@verizon. net. Our Corned Beef and Cabbage was the success of the year. We had good food, good conversation, and smiles galore. I thank you all for making us the talk of the town. You are all awesome and I am proud to call each and everyone my friend, and I thank everyone for stepping up to the plate. By the time this edition comes out our Dessert Social will be over, and I know we will be over the top Sun., April 27. Again thanks, we are planning our June event, keep your eye on the information board in the Lodge. For more information, call Joan Marcus at (951) 926-1908. Guitar Club New Jersey/ New York Club Four Seasons Players We meet at 9:30 am on the first Saturday of each month. Our meetings as well as membership in the club are open to all residents. Tucalota Springs RV Park, Sage, CA: By the time this goes to press, about 20 Happy Campers will have returned from four nights just south of Hemet, on a short trip to Tucalota Springs RV Park & Campground (March 31 through April 3). This was our first adventure to this park, located near the Temecula wine country. As always, the daily social hour and evening campfire should offer an opportunity for story telling, lots of laughter, and perhaps some karaoke. As of this writing, rain is predicted for the first day or two. Fortunately the park has a number of amenities for clubs including several heated club rooms for our use if the weather doesn't cooperate. The park is situated in a beautiful stand of mature oak trees, there is a small zoo, a swimming pool, and even a catch & release fishing pond. We hope that our experience is positive so that this venue can become a regular stop close to home. Bob and Ann Oxley led this outing. 49er RV Ranch, Columbia, CA: On May 5, more than 20 members will travel to Columbia (in California's Gold Country). We'll stay at the 49er RV Ranch which is next to Columbia State Historic Park and in the midst of beautiful wooded hillsides. In addition to all of the clubs usual activities, this adventure will offer a catered dinner and show at the park. We will have the chance to ride zip lines, tour caverns, take a day trip to Yosemite National Park or trek through Giant Sequoias at Calaveras Big Trees State Park (the longest continuously operating tourist facility in California. In 2010 and 2012 participants enjoyed loads of fun and gained many fond memories. Jimmy and Linda Bryan will again be our guides for this wonderful journey to California's Western Sierra foothills. Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks: On Sept. 2, a large contingent of Happy Campers will depart on a 15 day, 2000 mile journey to Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks in Northwest Wyoming and Southwest Montana. These two National Parks are so very popular that reservations should be made quickly at the RV Parks we are staying in as they will soon be fully booked… if that hasn't already happened. We have a great time both while traveling and while planning and discussing our RV trips at our monthly meetings… we hope you will consider joining us. Happy Campers RV Club Our next performance will be Sat., June 14, at 7 pm. We will be doing Love Letters by A. R. Gurney, a prolific playwright who has brought many plays to the New York and London stage. Some of the famous actors who have played in this show are Jason Robarts, Robert Wagner, George Peppard, and Stephanie Powers. "Love Letters" is about a 50 year love affair, mainly though letter writing, when it was the main form of communication between two people. The play is set before WWII and continues through the 60s. They share their happiest moments and their saddest moments all though the writings of these poignant letters. Typically performed with only two actors, Four Seasons Players will do it with eight actors. Each set of two actors will portray different stages of life as they wind their way through the story. The cast members are: Jim and Betty Crase, Quinn and Candy Hawley, Linda Hendrickson and Carlos vonFrankenburg, and Emilie Ortega and Dick English. I am excited to present this show to you because it is very different from others we have done and we promise you a night of entertainment, unlike anything we have done before. There will be intermission between the two acts of this play. Don't forget to mark your calendars: Sept. 27 will be our Dinner Theatre which will be the combined effort of Vintage Voices, Four Seasons Players, and the social committee, bringing you musical excerpts from the past. While this show promises to be a lot of work for us, we are truly excited to be presenting it to you for the first time. So, until next month, this is Emilie Ortega saying enjoy spring, smell the flowers, and we will be seeing you around the campus. And by the way, if you would like to join our group we are always in need of more people to help behind the scenes. Don Ortega and Ross Brunetto could use the help in a variety of ways. We are a fun group so come and join us. Our meeting is the third Friday of each month at 1 pm. Or call Don Ortega for further information.
