Audition dates are the June 23 and 24 from 9 am to 12 noon at the Main Clubhouse Bus Room. Parts are available for two males and three female characters. This comedic play is witty and wise and concerns a married couple whose three active sons have just moved out when their parents descend upon them with a whole new set of problems. Their plans for a peaceful home for just the two of them vanish with the conflicts their parents bring. As usual, the Drama Club extends an invitation to any resident of Sun Lakes who might have an interest in taking part. We need not just actors but also people to work behind the scenes in jobs such as stage manager, house manager, makeup, costumes, property managers, and production assistants. Being part of a production in any way is a very fulfilling job. The Drama Club is an exciting way to make new friends and work towards a common goal. Club activities include more than just the production of stage plays but also the presentation of Reader's Theatre, monthly dinners out at different restaurants, group attendance at other theatre productions with dinners afterwards, and participation in the bi-monthly meetings held in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Don't forget our annual Violin and Piano Concert upcoming the first Sunday in August. This enjoyable musical presentation is performed by Maki Ishii Sowash, a member of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and two friends who are coming in from Japan to perform with her on our Sun Lakes Ballroom Stage. Maki is the daughter in law of Drama Club member Lorene Sowash. For further information about the club, please contact Rose Hermanson at 769-9810. Drama Club If you are reading this before the last weekend in May you are in luck. You still have time to get tickets for the premier play of the year! If this is Sun., June 1st you only have one shot left. What we are referencing is an opportunity to see one of the funniest, bawdiest, most side-splitting comedies to grace our Main Clubhouse Ballroom stage in quite some time. We are describing a Michael Parker comedy, for which our group has garnered quite a reputation performing his over-the-top hoots, but, for this play, had the able writing-skills assistance of his wife, Susan Parker. "Sex Please, We're Sixty" is this irreverent adult comedy. If you like to laugh and are not easily offended you should make it a point to be in our audience. The cast, a group of your favorite Sun Lakes regulars, is primed and ready to deliver this broadly themed sexy farce. Also, with Lou Evans as the director, holding the reins and massaging the timing for all of the one-liners, you can bet that this will be a first-rate evening (or afternoon) of what we all like to do best, laugh! Tickets selling dates and times have expired but you are in luck. We knew that some of you would have forgotten to get your tickets and have arranged to have tickets available at the door for tables that we're adding just for you! The performance times and dates are 7 pm for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 29 through May 31 shows. The show on Sun., June 1, will be a 2 pm matinée. Don't miss it! For more information contact Bill Shova 845-0547. The Stardust Dancers want to thank all who attended our April showcase. We had tremendous audiences that hooted and hollered us to each number. Thanks so much. We loved it. Emily Alvarez, Carol Hurt, Martie Steggell, Florence Morck, Peggy Frederick, and Mo Heyen made the crowd-pleasing costumes. The annual fund raiser fashion show by the Stardust Dancers will be Aug. 29. The modeling class will model fashions. Every bit of the raffle profit will go to the "Veterans Village" in San Diego. All of our Sun Lakes Veterans will be featured and introduced. The program will include information about what goes on at the village. The goal is to help veterans who have been in combat get back to work force, and get skills needed to succeed. We will have a picture board with photos of any veteran who attends. If you want to have yours displayed, start looking in those old photo albums. There will be more info on this in the future.
