Fawcett was born in Lewistown, Montana June 21, 1920 and died in Banning on April 28, 2014. Marion moved to Sun Lakes from Modesto, California where she had lived with her husband, Dr. Kahl Fawcett, since 1949. They were married for 54 years and enjoyed many common activities. Marion was a surgical nurse during World War II and was drafted into the Navy. However, she opted to marry instead. While in Modesto, Marion and Kahl invested in Doctors' Hospital. Marion developed the first Candy Striper program there as well as directing the adult volunteer services. She worked tirelessly for the hospital auxiliary as well as many other charitable causes. She was a founding member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Modesto. When her children were grown, Marion returned to work as a school nurse and especially loved Junior High and High School ages where she taught Health Education. She wrote the program to keep "pregnant minors" in school. She spent much of her time visiting migrant farm worker camps to encourage children to attend school and to help them access health care. Marion moved to Sun Lakes in 2004 where she immediately became very active in ladies golf, competitive duplicate bridge, the Social Singles, the Friendship Club, the Sew What Club, and often was a guest at the Yiddish Culture Club. She loved to travel and went on a world cruise at 88, and Israel and Jordan at age 90. She was truly a world traveler. Marion was ready to go almost anywhere and enjoyed many cultural activities. A woman who never sat still, she also quilted, knit and crocheted. She will be missed by her friends and family, especially her children, Peggy, Jim and Sally, as well as seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and all of their spouses. She was the last of her generation and one of a kind. Trudy Gorelick passed away April 27, 2014. Trudy fought a tough battle against cancer. Her entire family was by her side. All will miss her.
