If there is a major disaster or emergency, the First Aid Team is responsible for providing emergency first aid for the residents of our community. Injured residents will be brought to a triage area at the Lodge for first aid treatment. The First Aid Team consists of RNs, EMts, Corpsman, miscellaneous medically trained volunteers and non-medical volunteers trained by our team of nurse educators. Our educators also teach first aid and CPR to interested residents. We encourage all residents to become educated about first aid and CPR as soon as possible. We need new team members all year round! Come and join our dynamic and dedicated team. If anyone has unopened dressings, bandages, or medical supplies to donate to the First Aid Team, would like to join the team, or take classes please contact Jan Thorsky, the First Aid Team Leader, at janthorsky@gmail.com or call her at (949) 836- 3879. The team meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 10 am in the Lodge Ballroom, all are welcome. First Aid Tips 1. Read and use the First Aid Guide that you received in the packet with the Residents' Emergency Handbook. 2. Pack a first aid kit near the top of your three day emergency supplies for all persons and animals in your home (page four of the Residents' Emergency Handbook). 3. Keep all in home first aid kits where they are used the most. (garage, kitchen, bathroom). 4. Replenish your first aid supplies every six months to be sure you never run out. ~ Anita Worthen Congratulations to our new CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) graduates. Our numbers of FEMA EPP trained Four Seasons Residents are growing. Our EPP meetings are informative and interactive. We meet the first Thursday of the month, at 10:30 am in the Lodge Ballroom. The next meeting is Thursday, June 5. The goal is to encourage each resident to be prepared in case of a disaster or an emergency. We have speakers, demonstrations, handouts, discussion, and cover a variety of topics related to Emergency Preparedness. Each month we highlight one of our response teams. This month it is First Aid (see accompanying article). Also, we encourage all to take the free CERT Training offered by the City of Beaumont. CERT includes topics like Disaster Basics, Disaster Medical Operations, Fire Suppression Techniques, and Search Rescue activities plus others. We will announce the next training dates. Come join us and be EPP prepared. ~ Anita Worthen Neighborhood Watch Thanks and welcome to our new block captains who have joined us in our new home areas and also to those that have been involved for a while now; we value your participation. For those of you who have an interest in our group and would like to be a block captain or would like more information please contact Anita Worthen or Susan Wilson; there are still some streets without coverage. We have a meeting for block captains and residents coming up on June 12 at 7 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. Our guest speakers will address the issue of scams, sex offences, radio information and first aid information. This meeting is intended to include those that are unable to attend a daytime meeting as well as those that do. We are hoping for a good turnout so please bring any questions you have to the table. We are planning our next National Night Out to be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 5:30 pm in the Lodge Ballroom and we will start with a potluck sign-up sheet in July at the Lodge Front Desk. We will have guest speakers from our local agencies and the city of Beaumont, please mark your calendars for this popular yearly informative event. It has been noticed that people are going over the 25 mph speed limit recommended for our neighborhood and we ask that you please slow down, consider others and check your speed, especially if you are traveling downhill! "If you see something, say something…" if you have concerns call the Beaumont Police at (951) 769-8500 and Euclid Management at the Front Desk in the Lodge to help keep this great neighborhood a safe place to live. ~ Susan Wilson
