26 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2014 | CLUBS & GROUpS CLUBS & GROUpS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2014 27 A student's perspective…"Did you ever wish you could draw? As someone who's been involved with Rob Kelman's drawing class for awhile now, I urge you to come and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity for fun and self discovery. When I first came to class, in spite of spending decades in a creative field, I had no confidence that I had any real drawing skills, but I did want to learn. I discovered that Rob is an unusually fine teacher. The atmosphere in his class is always positive, constructive and fun. We have people who have drawn since childhood and some who had never before picked up a pencil. Rob helps everyone at their own pace and level. One thing he says often is, 'if you can't see it, you can't draw it,' so part of the part of the process is to see things around you in a new way, which has been a fascinating journey for me. I have surprised and delighted myself by what I am learning to do. Come join us. You, too, might surprise yourself and find out that you really can draw." ~ Christine Vergara Classes are Monday, 10 am - 12 pm or Wednesday, 6 - 8 pm. Our talk centered on American women and Memorial Day, History of Mother's Day and Martha Washington. ~ Lynette Simonson Women Celebrating America We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Lodge Craft Room. Our June meeting is June 17, visitors are always welcome. We invite all photographers, regardless of skill level, to join us for our regular meetings and field trips. Members are always eager to help and teach. We discuss photography, photo software, hardware, and related subjects of interest. On a voluntary basis, members offer their photographs for critique which is a great learning experience for all. Our alternative photo project is ongoing (i.e. we bring a picture of a specific genre we all agree on). For the May meeting, several members responded to our voluntary genre assignment by bringing more HDR pictures (structured differently from the April meeting) which were then critiqued by George Johnson. We continue to learn about this new and exciting type of photography. Come and visit us to find out what HDR is all about. Our proposed field trip to the Living Desert (in Palm Desert) is still on the drawing board. The summer has arrived which means vacations and more photographs. Hope to see you at one of our meetings soon. For further information, please contact Lyle Cameron at (951) 849-6987. ~ Lyle Cameron Camera Club Knitting & Crocheting We are still working on personal items, and items for the senior center. We meet every Tuesday morning from 10 to about 11:30 am. ~ Dorothy Payne In June, we continue on the topic of "Spiritual Maturity," as we continue to study the book of James. Sometimes we forget that God's number one purpose in working with us is to help us to grow spiritually. God is more interested in developing our character than He is in making our lives comfortable. So we will be studying passages in the book of James to explore the topic of what makes for spiritual maturity. We will be exploring such topics as "How to treat people right," "How to manage our mouths," and "How to develop patience." Come and join us as we explore this significant subject and its meaning for our everyday life. Everybody is welcome! Our Bible Study meets on Tuesday evenings in the ballroom of the Lodge from 7 to 8 pm. The club provides an opportunity for us to meet others in the Four Seasons community, and also a chance to encourage and strengthen one another in our walk of faith. Each lesson is self-contained, and everyone is welcome. Lastly, you go to the third home for dessert (s) and stay for good conversation and fun. What we need to make this successful is: 1. Three people who will volunteer their homes 2. Food… do you want to bring: salad, main dish, side dish, dessert 3. Most importantly, please RSVP to Toni Finer at (951) 769-0351 no later than May 30.
