30 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2014 | CLUBS & GROUpS CLUBS & GROUpS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2014 31 Our Spring Fling dinner dance party was sold out. Thank you. The objectives at our dinner dances are simple — provide a pleasant environment, good food, a live band, enjoy a variety of dancing, and give you a worthwhile experience. Samuel Beckett said: "Dance first. Think later. It's the natural order." We can easily convince ourselves we're no good at dancing. Our thinking gets in the way, and we talk ourselves out of it before we even start. This is especially true of men who are sure they can never dance. But a word to men stop being a "me first" person, and treat that lovely bride of yours to the joy of dancing. It will mean a lot to her, and she'll thank you for it. We meet every Monday night in the Ballroom. From 6:30 to 7 pm we receive the basics of the dance, and from 7 to 8 pm we get more advanced instructions. On most Thursday nights we also have a free dance practice from 6 to 7 pm in the Ballroom. You're always welcome to visit, even if just to see what takes place. For questions or comments, please contact Puring and Gary Stifter at (951) 922-8333, or at purings@ verizon.net. ~ Willis Fagan Ballroom Dance Club Line Dancing June brings warmer days, weddings and graduations. I will be traveling to Dallas for my grandson's high school graduation, so there will be no class June 3 and 10. Classes resume June 17. Our brains work better when they are challenged. Dancing stimulates your muscles, and your brain has to concentrate on something new and different. Puzzles or word games are okay, but dancing adds movement to those thought processes, which is good for our age group. Stop by and watch. You may find you would like to try line dancing. No partner needed. The important part is coming out and having fun. Hope to see you on Tuesdays at 3 pm in the Lodge Ballroom for the beginners and at 3:45 pm for the advanced class. ~ Martha Franck We will meet every two months beginning June 2, at 6 pm in the Card Room. The meeting dates for the balance of the year are: June 2, Aug. 4, Oct. 6, and Dec. 2. All meeting times will be at 6 pm in the Card Room. Please mark the dates in your calendar. We hope these new dates and time will encourage more members to come and participate. On Saturday, Dec. 13, we'll have our 3rd Annual AACC Christmas Party. The Christmas committee is planning it and it will be the event of the year. It will help make this holiday season memorable. Stay tuned more information to come. We encourage all residents to attend. A group of members attended a cultural foundaton gala sponsored by one of our members, Dorothy Cole. The Natlie A. Cole-Reagins Education and Cancer Research Foundation was formed by Dorothy in honor of her daughter. It was a wonderful event. The foundation gave generous donations to educational institutions, doctors, and cancer research institutions. Who said one person couldn't make a difference. We were so proud of her, her family, and her foundation. Our last meeting was great, the guest speaker was Debbie Franklin, the Mayor of Banning. She updated us on the community, answered questions, and informed us on some future plans for the community. The meeting was very informational and Mayor Franklin was very gracious. We appreciated her taking the time to address our group. As always we encourage you to become a part of our group. We are striving to become viable to you and our community. If you would like to be a part of a group on the move, come and join us. Cole-Reagin Educational and Cancer Research Foundations Gala. Amphitheater Group FREE EVENT! BRING YOUR NEIGHBORS! ENJOY OUR VERY OWN OUTDOOR AMPHITHEATER! Hello residents! I was reminded recently that we now have almost 1,200 homes and with that a lot of new homeowners. Many of them may not know we have a beautiful outdoor setting to enjoy a variety of music once a month throughout the summer. So be a good neighbor and mention the Amphitheater to someone new and invite them to "come on down." Hopefully those who came for the special evening in May with Dyan Hobday had a great time listening to tales of love and laughed and cried and enjoyed the songs that illustrated all that love in tales. On Sunday, June 8, at 7 pm, we go back in time with the Doo Wop Dolls. All local gals from Cherry Valley who blend their beautiful voices to recreate the unique harmonies of the most popular songs from the 40s, 50s and 60s. A show you won't want to miss. Looking forward to seeing you at the Amphitheater. ~ Penny McDonell
